I think most of us were hoping Pakistan would do this in Afghanistan......(that would have been a legitimate operation).

The problem is, I don't see any point in this operation at all.

I mean, what's the goal, the end game? Is it because of the Drug? Or the oil? Maduro is a dictator; he isn't some Narco kingpin. Lifting him out and putting him out of the equation does nothing to deter those drug barons. Those people will still be doing what they were doing anyway.

And if this is about oil, that need a regime change, and this is a decapitation strike, unless it followed with something, at best you are going to have a civil war inside Venezuela to determine who is the next King, at worse it's just going to be business as usual, dictator is like a crime sydnicate, they don't just give up losing the head, as I said, the best case scenario for the US is basically plunge Venezuela into a Civil War, which at the end it will still be Maduro side rule, just who rules the country is the issue because the opposition wasn't big enough to support this.

I honestly see no points on this operation.

It's just a bit of fun for the Americans. Possibly a testing ground for new hardware/ tactics.

They could probably emulate this in most countries if needed.

It looks like the US have devised a new war strategy based on prior surgical operations such as Operation Neptune Spear in Pakistan (2011) and Operation Kayla Mueller in Syria (2019). The US went straight for the head of the snake and removed it. Venezuelan military have taken a hit but Venezuelan institutions are still in place to restore order. Now it will be easier for the US to influence and/or coerce Venezuela at large to respect or align with American interests. I doubt that Venezuela will descend to civil war under these circumstances.

Maduro capture ‘devastating’ to China​

Maduro’s capture will prove to be a hammer blow to China, which is the biggest buyer of Venezuelan oil.

Beijing has taken oil not as a commercial import but as debt repayment towards an estimated $60bn in loans it has poured into Venezuelan oil projects.

It is now faced with losing their repayments entirely if the US seizes control of Venezuela’s oil reserves, which are the deepest in the world.

“Specifically, you have to appreciate just how devastating all this is to China,” a source close to the administration said.

“Whether Venezuela or Iran, Trump is almost single-handedly setting the Chinese Communist Party’s geopolitical influence back by over a decade.”

For Mr Trump, Maduro’s capture marks another step in his planned dubbed the “Donroe Doctrine” by insiders, which aims to rid America’s backyard of Chinese influence.

I think even in this case the Chinese have done their homework. They are world leaders in EV's and are leading in the replacement of combustion engines in their automobiles. The US keeps using old tactics and their military to tackle a China which plays a different game altogether.

A team of FBI agents were with the US special operation forces who carried out the capture of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, according to people briefed on the matter, and plans are now in the works to take Maduro to New York where he will face charges in Manhattan federal court.

The US Drug Enforcement Administration has worked for years on an indictment of Maduro and some top military leaders in Venezuela, according to US law enforcement officials.

That work is expected to form the basis of charges set to be made public.

US Attorney General Pam Bondi said earlier that Maduro will “soon face the full wrath of American justice on American soil in American courts” after he was captured in Venezuela.

They are going to make an example out of this brown "dictator". How dare he disobey the Western dictation. The rest of the brown dictators will fall in line.
