Venezuela - US Conflict: News, Updates

Trump told Maduro to step down. Maduro didn't so he was removed by force. Other Venezuelan leaders have the option to work with Trump. An example have been set for them. This might surprise you but many countries do not want to fight a superpower. I doubt that the US does not have appetite for fight. The move shows otherwise.
If we have the appetite to fight, we have already been in a war; doing this is the exact reason why we try to avoid a fight by launching a surgical strike

And again, you don't remove the person who is not willing to appease you, because that is not negotiation, you need an incentive to negotiate, removing you by force when you don't agree to our terms is not an incentive, you either go all the way and fully invade or you try to meet people in the middle. You don't do both at the same time.

Venezuelan institutions are largely intact, they can restore order and facilitate transition in power. The likelihood of civil war increases when institutions are destroyed and the ground becomes ripe for new entities emerge and fight. This did not happen.

The next few days and weeks will make it all fairly clear the direction Venezuela will take as a whole.

Russia is extremely incompetent and useless, they didn't know there was a massive US deployment in Cuba exercises and never assisted old friends at all. It is time to dump Russia.

US should capture Moscow next quick and surprise!
Putin grew overconfident and bit off way more than Russia could chew in Ukraine. He walked into a trap and has been unable to extricate himself since. You are correct that Russians have proven useless allies to Iran, Armenia, Venezuela.

just plainly said its for oil , last time they tried to hide they don't even care any more
You are a wise person and see things very clearly.

I agree with your thinking. Oil is related to the dominance of the dollar, and the power to set oil prices is very important. The amount of oil you control determines how much influence you have over oil pricing.

they are scared.

if you keep everything china has. (chokehoold on rare earth, industrial capacity, naval size) but swapped out the population and leadership for an american one

they would have invaded taiwan yesterday

the han have everything but courage

they will build another 100 ships and do another 50 exercises but never pull the trigger
You seem to be in a hurry to show your IQ, and it seems that the Indians haven't reacted yet. In a war in which no one obeys international law and bottom lines, I don't think your neighbors will be rational and restrained towards India.

The way he's talking you would think they defeated a super power and not some 3rd world banana state.

More than 60 Billion dollars of Chinese investments have just gone down the toilet. It is a strategic setback for China and Russia. The next in line is Brazil. It will be the death of BRICS.
Do you think the U.S. has seized China's property? If you have proof, please bring it out? On the contrary, I think the United States has to protect the Chinese property in Venezuela.

Well, he is talking about the Monroe Doctrine, and Putin was talking about the heyday of the Russian Empire, and how they can protect the empire from the nearest threat (which was non-existent)

I don't know about you, but for me, this speech is basically we want to turn everyone in South America into our allies by force if necessary, because this was our backyard and we need to exert dominance in our backyard......

Trump wasn't even try to sugarcoat the whole thing.
As with many things Trump, we don’t know if this will hold after he is out of office, but considering Biden quietly continued many policies from Trump’s first term, this may indeed be the new normal.

Trump even named the Monroe Doctrine After himself in the speech: The “Donroe Doctrine”; I thinking of it as Don’s Rules of Engagement, his presidential art of the deal.

The most striking comment was that America was going to run Venezuela now. So he basically just announced a conquest.

It seems the US now owns Venezuela’s future – for better or worse

Anthony Zurcher
BBC North America correspondent

If there were any doubts about the breadth of American involvement in Venezuela after the US action to remove Nicolas Maduro from power, Donald Trump has laid them to rest.

“We are going to run the country until such time as we can do a safe, proper and judicious transition,” he said.

It’s a bold statement to make, given the economic and political turmoil the South American nation now faces.

Trump, a sharp critic of the US invasion of Iraq, now seems to be in the business of nation-building – and dealing with the consequences of American military action.

In the words of one of the American architects of the Iraq War, Secretary of State Colin Powell, “If you break it, you own it.”

The US now owns Venezuela’s future – for better or worse.

US hasn't seized them but got to think from Chinese perspective. China had made most of the strategic investments in Venezuela considering them as long term geopolitical ally. Now with a pupet US regime taking over most of them would be useless and they would likely be looking for an exit.
