Well it is likely US satellites tracked Maduro from that very meeting he had with the Chinese Envoy to the place he was captured.

There is supposed to be a blockade of Venezuelan oil exports to choke the economy and thus force the Ven. govt to kneel. Already they are in bad financial situation. Expect humanitarian crisis and even more mass exodus.
That's the plan to 'Run' Venezuela going forward.
