This is an excellent question and its answer lies in understanding that BVR range is not fixed. Meteor has the largest NEZ of around 60 km and its operational range is claimed to be 100 km. Though estimated range is 200km, its kill probability reduces drastically if target is at 150 km.

Simply put, PL-15 has an advantage over Meteor in a fight at the ranges we saw in Op Sindoor. Other factors like IAF complacency, system integration, PAF tactics of silent kill chain, pilot training for last 5 years focused on countering Meteor and S-400 etc also played an important role.

The Rafales shot down at lesser ranges were at lower altitudes. The J-10C pilots were waiting for HQ-9 to shine and Rafale pilots naturally descended to avoid SAM threat. At that exact moment, J-10 moved in for the kill when Meteor range was reduced by say 40-50 km due altitude. So it was a choreographed fight and should not be seen as just J-10's PL-15 vs Rafale's Meteor.

Think about it - why do this entire op with nearly every Rafale you had knowing the adversary out sticks you on everything you have?
They brought the meteor, had a plan and it turned out the PL-15’s actual max range is greater than the Meteor’s actual range. It is even possible that the meteor’s employment envelope isn’t what it’s made out to be.

The Indians simply didn’t know what hit them. This is clear from their intercepted audio recordings and the swift manner they grounded their air force for two days in a 4 day war.

Regardless of the machismo and fake narrative wars India is running, the Indian air force knows what it went up against and they are totally terrified.

Trump wants India to bend the knee and kiss the ring like the mafia don he is, and India being prideful, is not going to do that easily. Pakistan, of course already has, so lets see how long India will hold out for.

Now, the matter of 8 air to air kills has been finalised, I am waiting on him to start talking about the 4 x Rafales that were "written" off after they managed to limp home. :)

thats the American dilemma here

China needs Russia so, this 3 body problem will continue for a long time

Final story is still not revealed, right now only kills are revealed, from what i have read from respectable members here there were few others which were damaged beyond repairs but did managed to somehow reach back, those are not included in the "kills"

you are observations are correct, but over look economical grounds

1. China needs cheap oil
2. China wants to avoid $ as mode of payment
3. China needs more than 1 oil supplier (to avoid blackmailing!)
