Who said anything about wanting lower prices? American companies are not going into Venezuela now because it’s not profitable. This makes Trump look like an idiot. That’s why I ask if a war with Iran would spike oil prices high enough for it to become profitable for American companies to go into Venezuela.

I don't think I understand your point then. Shale extraction becomes unprofitable when oil prices are low. High prices are beneficial for them so it doesn't make sense for them to invest into refurbishing Venezuelan oil infrastructure to bring down oil prices. That's why they're already reluctant to invest in Venezuela at Trump's behest.
Trump said American oil companies would go into Venezuela and bring the oil back to America. In reality, they do not want to invest there and it makes him look like an idiot. Is it possible that his zio friends have convinced him that a war with Iran would drive oil prices high enough that companies would suddenly be willing to go into Venezuela?

!No I don't think so. More likely he sees an opportunity to impose american hegemony over the entirety of West Asia and cut off a large portion of China's energy supply, and he thinks he can do it the way he did it in Venezuela, with minimal risk and cost.
