I thought you were the non NATO but NATO ally equivalent? You agreed to hand over mineral access, your leaders even presented it at the White House all marketed as a renaissance in US Pakistan relations this year.

I am not in the US, so don't care. Even if Pakistan decides to allow only one nationality, it will not affect me and majority of the people. Pakistan can't even cancel my qualifications (like it does of its sitting judges) because I don't have one.

I think Pakistan is well used to not being considered very important for over a decade now, long gone are the days where there is any disillusion with USA on favourable outlook,

The spectacle with the field marshal, was exactly that, we could be back to a place where India and the USA are stronger than ever within 5 years or 10 years or who knows, disappointment comes from disconnect between expectation and outcome.
 

Pakistan hopes routine processing of US immigrant visas will resume ‘soon’ after internal review: FO​

Pakistan on Thursday expressed hope that the United States would “soon” resume immigrant visa processing, adding that it viewed the recent suspension as part of an internal review.

The US on Wednesday announced the suspension of immigrant visa processing for Pakistan and 74 other countries, effective January 21, citing concerns that immigrants from these nations often rely on public welfare programmes.

In its statement, the State Department had said the “freeze will remain active until the US can ensure that new immigrants will not extract wealth from the American people”.

Responding to a query about the move despite Pakistan’s improved relations with Washington in recent months, Foreign Office (FO) spokesperson Tahir Hussain Andrabi acknowledged coming across the “reports”.

“Basically, it was a brief statement by the US State Department on their social media account about the internal review of processing immigrant visas that they are in the process of,” he said.

“We are in touch with the US authorities to ascertain further details. This is an evolving news that we are following“.”

“We understand that this is an internal ongoing process of review of US immigration policies and system, and hope that the routine processing of immigrant visas will resume soon,” the FO spokesperson added.

No. In any case after India's (alleged) defeat in the Sindoor War, it is not considered an ally by anyone but the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan.

Let's not make this a competition of who is better placed in u.s or trump estimations, I would say Pakistan's expectations very much have the last 20 years or so in mind, if there are periods of a reversal, very few will consider it meaningful, it is what it is. Who isn't in a quagmire with the new rules of the game

I am not bothered about who is better placed while Trump is there as President. He changes his friends as frequently as he changes clothes.

Well there you go, I expect trump to change with Pakistan soon enough.

It's probably better to keep a low profile, assuming trump does not manage another term the new administration is likely to have a more steady sense of who they wish to partner or not
