Editorial: While the ‘Board of Peace’ dreamt up by US President Donald Trump last year was supposed to address the violence in Gaza, now, as the body takes form, it is mutating into something much bigger. In effect, if media reports are correct, the board is shaping up to be a competitor to the UN, with Mr Trump in the driving seat, seeking to remake the international order as per his vision. Multiple media outlets have published details of what the board seeks to do, while Mr Trump has invited leaders from across the world, including Pakistan, to join this new endeavour.

Even though the UN was and is dominated by the so-called great powers that wield a veto in the Security Council, it appears that in the Board of Peace, Donald Trump’s word will be law. The American leader is slated to hold “indefinite chairmanship” of the body, while he will also possess veto power. Furthermore, those states willing to cough up $1bn will be offered a permanent seat at the table; less moneyed states will have three-year terms that can be renewed if Mr Trump — as board chairman — deems it fit. Moving beyond the Gaza genocide, the board may also seek to address other global conflicts.

Nothing wrong with India going there. What's being put in place is longterm peace in Gaza, even if under the Israeli subjugation, and that's the best the defeated party can hope for. There is even potential for some lucrative business deals for those who'd be willing to get involved in the 'reconstruction' of Gaza. I hear, due to Pakistan's own FWO's excellence, Pakistan may get some lucrative deals just to clean the debris in Gaza.
You can't call prisoners slaughtered in the biggest colonial prison in the world "a defeated party". Very shameful indeed of you to use such language.

EDITORIAL: While several Western sources had cited implausibly high figures for the death toll in the recent protests in Iran, figures from within the Iranian establishment have admitted to a large number of casualties, pointing to the harshness of the crackdown by the state. Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei himself has said that “several thousands” had been killed, while an Iranian official cited the figure of 5,000 deaths to Reuters.

These are shocking numbers. Iranian officials insist that most of the deaths were caused by foreign-backed saboteurs, but there can be little doubt that security personnel used excessive force against the demonstrators. In fact, it would be naïve to assume that foreign forces were not involved in inflaming an already explosive situation.

When history asks where you stood,
our voices will be the answer, rising:
From the silent mouths of mothers,
from the broken hands of fathers,
from the children who will never grow—
"Gaza’s blood was on your silence."

Jared Kushner speaks about the reconstruction of Gaza:The area will be developed into zones. At first, we thought about starting with a free zone, alongside a zone controlled by Hamas. But then we said: Why not plan for success - real success?Hamas signed an agreement for disarmament, and that is what we intend to implement. People keep asking about our alternative plan. There is no alternative plan. We have a plan. We signed an agreement, and everyone is committed to implementing it.There is a master plan, and it will be implemented in phases throughout the Middle East. Cities with populations of two or three million people are being built in the region within three years. Projects like these are entirely achievable - if we put in the necessary effort.
