The problem for Bangladesh is that they used to earn USD 35–50 million by playing against India within one or two year, which is a major portion of their revenue. In comparison, when they play against other countries, they earn much less.Good thing they were given an ultimatum, I think we should vote for suspending them or at least downgrading their status to non test playing if they are dipping from the WC. Put costs as there was probably revenue losses involved.
For example, if they play against Pakistan, they earn around USD 8 million.
Tougher days are ahead for Bangladesh. They seemed to believe they could pressure India since an ICC event is being held in India, assuming it was a “chance pe dance” situation with support from PCB—"Begane ke Shaadi me Abdul Diwana"
However, they played it the wrong way, thinking they wanted to repeat the Champions Trophy scenario.
Now, most likely, Pakistan will be in focus. Pakistan usually has only one major card in ICC tournaments—one or two matches against India—which brings the most benefits. I believe this bubble may burst in the future if the BCCI and broadcasters decide not to place India and Pakistan in the same group in ICC tournaments.
That would burst the bubble on which the PCB is currently banking.
