Türkiye vs Israel - tensions, conflicts and rivalry | Latest News and Updates

So basically you can't take on Israel right now. You admit it.

Turkiye is strong enough to protect its own interests.

Israel is not a major military power to change anything in Cyprus , Syria , Libya , Somalia and in the Eastern Mediterranean

Our rivals are France and Russia in this region from Libya to Syria , but not tiny Israel

---------------------------

Türkiye is struggling within a larger geopolitical game. ( The Balkans , Caucasia , Africa , The Black Sea , The Aegean , Eastern Mediterranean , Central Asia and Middle East )

Countries with overseas Military Bases

55 Countries
Russia : 13 Countries
The UK : 13 Countries
Turkiye : 12 Countries

Interesting article,I found this on a greek site:

I'll post the link to the original israeli site as mentioned on doureios

and google translate from greek to english

By Savvas D. Vlassis

According to a report by the Israeli news website Mako on January 2, Israel is conducting an air “campaign” of deterrence, with fighter jets flying to demonstrate their presence, against Turkey. The article describes another aspect of the “cold war” in relations between the two countries, with Israel using its air power to deter Turkish expansion, in this case air, into Syria and the wider region.

The article, signed by defense editor Shai Levy, argues that this particular Israeli action was initiated from the moment Jerusalem classified the Turkish doctrine expressed in the phrase “blue homeland”, as one of the greatest threats to Israel’s interests. This perception of Turkey, which seeks control over a zone from the maritime area east of the Dodecanese to Cyprus, Israel now considers to extend from Ankara further east, into northern Syria.

The Israeli journalist reports that Turkish and Russian reports note that formations of Israeli aircraft, sometimes armed with missiles, are flying in international airspace north of Cyprus. Although the report does not mention it, this is an area that falls under the control of the Nicosia FIR and in this way the Israeli Air Force shows that it recognizes the jurisdiction of Nicosia in this area, ignoring the occupying pseudo-state.

Levi claims that a senior military source confirmed these reports. “Although the Israeli Air Force is investing a lot of resources in flights around Cyprus, a senior Air Force official says that the real Cold War target lies deep inside Syrian territory. At least at this stage, it can be said that the Air Force is managing a successful front with its personnel, preventing Turkish Air Force aircraft and drones from operating from bases in Syria, thereby undermining Israel’s control and air superiority there.”

By demonstrating its presence around Cyprus, the Israeli Air Force is creating “friction” in Turkey, with a deterrent message regarding Syria. In recent years, Turkey has sought to relocate its fighter jets to Syria, but Israel has reacted effectively and has prevented this to date. Levy adds that, “the strategy of the Israel Defense Forces, led by Major General Tomer Bar, is to create constant friction around Cyprus and in the sea lanes to Turkey. The Israeli Air Force forces the Turks to keep their air assets close to their homeland and is less likely to allow them to “spread out” into Syria.”

Indeed, on December 30, three days before the Israeli publication, the Turkish Ministry of Defense had announced the carrying out of a training flight “in the international airspace of the Mediterranean, south of Cyprus”, that is, within the Nicosia FIR. A pair of F-16s from the 162 Squadron and an E-7T early warning and control aircraft participated in the activity. The fighters were armed with two AIM-9 and two AIM-120 missiles. The presence of the E-7T indicates that the Turkish side conveyed a message of exercising air control in the wider area, covering all of Israeli territory.

It is interesting here that the fighters belonged to the 162 Squadron, which is based at the 6th Main Jet Base in Bandirma, Western Turkey. The detachment of fighters from there, for a mission to Cyprus, marks, among other things, the now unified Combat Aviation in the organization of the Turkish Air Force. According to open sources, the Squadron had been merged with the 161 Squadron since 2022, due to a lack of pilots, but since May 1, 2025, its autonomous operation was restored.

The Israeli publication does not refer to this activity but describes an incident that occurred on October 9, 2025, in which Turkish TB2 Bayraktar UAVs flew south of Cyprus in the Nicosia FIR, forming with their tracks, one the Turkish crescent and the other the star. It was supposed to be a “message” to Israel. On that day, the Israel-Hamas agreement for the signing of the first phase of the US peace plan for Gaza was announced. At that time, there was an increase in the entries of Turkish UAVs into the Nicosia FIR.

Mako's article directly links the developments to the strengthening of defense cooperation between Greece, Cyprus and Israel. However, it invokes interpretations that exaggerate the real significance of the signing, on December 22-23, of a Joint Action Plan between the three states and the Greece-Israel Defense Cooperation Program for 2026. The framework of these actions is typical, including, among other things, inter-branch exercises, joint training of Special Operations Forces, staff meetings, etc. Information about the formation of a joint Greek-Israeli military force that was circulated weeks ago, as the Doureios Ippos has written, is unfounded.

It should be noted that the official announcements of the Turkish Ministry of Defense regarding flights of Turkish aircraft and UAVs in the context of training activities refer to those taking place in the Black Sea and the Mediterranean. For example, such training flights took place in the Black Sea on December 18 and in the Mediterranean on the 23rd of the month. Flights for training purposes in the Aegean Sea with entry into the Athens FIR are not mentioned, confirming that these are carried out only for reasons of provocation and within the context of a hostile policy towards Greece.

The Zionists are now mentioning the Aegean Sea. Greek foreign policy is a mess. They turn to them during a time when even Americans are starting to hate Israel.

Absolutely, it’s not the flying or underwater drones they should fear the most. What should truly concern them are the Turkish soldiers themselves — land-based drones in human form — whose discipline, adaptability, and resolve will shape the battlefield. That is what they should be afraid of.

Americans are not hating Israel, they'll always support them because unfortunately they have a huge Evangelical and other pro-Israeli population there. Many are fed up,yes. Republicans too. But in the end, they control the funding, the media and the entertainment industry. You see actors going to the Oscars talking against Trump and telling people about humanity and love, only to go back home and post videos crying about Israel.

But I'll agree that ever since Mitsotakis removed Panagiotopoulos from MoD and put Dendias as MoD,thereby removing him as Minister of Foreign Affairs and appointing Gerapetritis in his place...it all went to pieces.

Again,I think they should have gone full French. Everything they worked to build for 4 years, they tore down and it wasn't just Erdogan's restoring of relations with many countries, that was only made easier because somehow the government started putting more effort in Greek-Turkish relations with all that "Declaration of Athens" and "calm waters" bullshit.

Anyway, let me c/p some parts of this article:

On the bilateral front, Dendias referred to defense cooperation across a wide spectrum, ranging from operational interoperability and joint exercises to strategic convergence in research, innovation, defense technology and industry. He reiterated references to ongoing programs, including missile artillery systems and the so-called “Achilles’ Shield,” encompassing Barak MX, David’s Sling, Spyder systems and radar.

According to Dendias, the two sides also agreed on an exchange of know-how to enable the effective countering of drones and drone swarms, as well as other unmanned vehicles in the air, on the sea surface and below it.

Katz, for his part, referred to the IMEC initiative and connectivity projects, explicitly including an undersea cable, and highlighted the very close military cooperation between Greece and Israel, with emphasis on intelligence sharing and joint exercises

As expected, Katz’s visit drew comment from Turkish media, which focused on unmanned aerial vehicle systems used effectively by Turkey.

Israel will share with Greece operational experience from its use of US-made F-35 fighter jets as the two countries seek to deepen strategic cooperation amid growing instability in the Middle East, an Israeli military official said.

In an interview with Kathimerini, Israel Defense Forces (IDF) spokesperson Lt. Col. Nadav Shoshani said his country is willing to transfer knowledge gained from operating the aircraft across multiple missions and fronts following October 7 2023. He added that Israel has accumulated unmatched regional experience with the F-35, drawing interest even from the United States.

“Israel has the greatest experience in the entire region when it comes to the F-35,” Shoshani said. “We will do everything we can to share our knowledge with the Greeks.”

Greece is expected to receive its first F-35 aircraft in the US before the end of 2028 and to transfer and host them at a military facility in Andravida, a town in the Peloponnese, in early 2030. Greek pilots have already gained experience through joint training with Israelis, who are also expected to participate in this year’s Iniochos air exercise.

Shoshani said Athens has shown interest in Israeli tactics and know-how, particularly in suppressing enemy air defenses and striking critical and time-sensitive targets. He added that Israel has gained extensive experience in such missions due to the threats it faces.

The comments came as Greece, Cyprus and Israel move to strengthen defense ties against a backdrop of tensions involving Iran, competition between Turkey and Israel in Syria and Hezbollah’s renewed activity in Lebanon. The three countries signed a revised military cooperation memorandum covering 2026 a few days ago.

Shoshani said cooperation and intelligence sharing among partners that share common values aims to promote regional stability. He added that more joint exercises and training activities with Greece are expected within the year.

Explain me one thing: Why is Israel worried about Turkey's AD capabilities and capacities in an around Turkey?
Why are the Zionists worried about Turkey's MIC in general? Are they planning something that we aren't aware of?

I am new in this thread but recent developments suggest Turkey and Israel are on a path of conflict as long as Erdogan is the President and maybe even after he's gone unless those 'secular' pre Erdogan Turks regain power.

IMO this is beyond Erdogan. Israel simple and plainly don't want at the other side of the wall a military power that can challenge them.

That is the reason they overthrowned Morsi and with american help installed a puppet Regime.

They worst israeli nightmare It is just Turkey deploying KAANs on T4 as head of the bridge that would definitively close their freedom of action to the East. That is why they're approaching Greece.

Overwhelming majority of Turkish people are secular. Secular doesn't mean you hate islam, it means you are free to be whatever religion you want to be and you free not to be religious.

Probably 90% of Turks subscribe to secularism. Maybe only about 10% of Muslim Turks want sharia.

Its ok, we don't need to force religion on people. You do that like they did in Iran and people run from islam in record numbers. You want to make Muslims hate islam, force the religion onto them.

I was thinking of the pre Erdogan Turkey vs the Turkey since Erdogan on geopolitical level--not on personal level. I didn't mention whatever happening in Iran.
