Respectfully disagree. Standard of cricketing performance is of no relevance to the political and politicised nature of Indo-Pak games. These games draw Indian crowds and generate Indian earnings at multiple tiers because of their political ramifications, not because of the standard of cricket.

You can very easily prove me wrong by demonstrating a significant fall in relative/adjusted revenues for India of like-for-like matches in the present era compared with the era of Wasim, Waqar etc. I am happy to be proved wrong if you can furnish the data.

India and Pakistan no longer play each other outside of ICC tournaments and TV rights, which are the biggest component of revenue, are not sold by individual matches, so I don't think those data points exist.

However, the BCCI is a baniya organization driven by the bottom line. In the past, when India and Pakistan refused to tour each other, matches between them would be organised by UAE Sheikhs or companies in Canada/US and the BCCI would be happy to play along. If there was significant enough revenue potential in India playing Pakistan, I am sure the BCCI would have signed off on more matches in neutral venues.

If there was significant enough revenue potential in India playing Pakistan, I am sure the BCCI would have signed off on more matches in neutral venues.

Just to give you one example, gate receipts expected for PCB from knockout fixtures in the Pakistani hosted CT 2025 were curtailed PRECISELY because India played their matches in Dubai. BCCI, at the same time, received payments that it should never have received, as a consequence of this venue move.

You seem to be frozen in time. India vs Pakistan used to be a marquee fixture when Pakistan had legends or greats like Imran Khan, Javed Miandad, Wasim Akram, Inzi and Shoaib Akhtar. These players had fan following in India for their on and off field exploits and even the relationship between the two countries was at its nadir, the BCCI would find ways to play Pakistan outside of the World Cups in the Middle East or North America. Now, Pakistan has a second tier team and cricket is dominated by the Big 3.

Sure, the once in a blue moon India Pakistan games in the ICC tournaments still generate public interest in India, but that is mostly for a one-off "mauka mauka" tomfoolery by advertisers and the media. As far as bilateral cricket is concerned, it is the series between the Big 3 that bring in the interest and moolah.

Wasim is still the best ever seam and, of course, swing bowler in my books, and in my 52 years, I have seen many including the crazy seam movements of Asif.

The people of Bangladesh are behind the board. The more the board takes a stance against India the more it will get support from the people.

JioStar earned from betting apps. Once Indian govt banned them they decide to exit ICC media rights. One of conditions of $3bn deal was guaranteed Pakistan vs India matches. ICC is now shopping around but no one is coming forward.

Now think if there is no Pakistan vs India matches, rights will be worth $500m at best.
