India - US Tariff and Relations | News + Updates

India now have secured both EU and American markets for its export, at much better rate then Pakistan. Indian exporters would easily screw over Pakistani products. To f@ujeets and patwaris.... still meri jind meri jan? World is moving at some pace, India secured both EU and US. UK is already in the bag for them. UK, France, Canada on their part have made deals with China. wtf is this rat Asim Muneer and his henchman doing? Bughz-e-Imran will not going to feed you and your ilk for much long.

Exactly! I saw ignorant noonies in this forum jumping up and down saying that India is isolated and this and that.. Its the other way around infact. India made mother of all deals with EU and now with US at better rates then failed military rulers & their corrupt puppets here.

The illegal regime in Pakistan for last 4 years has completely destroyed a nation state. No constitution, no media freedom, election system destroyed where public mandate is trampled under boots, no independent judiciary, worst terrorism, resentment of public at highest levels, worst quality of life for ordinary pakistanis, PKR literally destroyed, economy wrecked, and priorities is that assembly in busy making laws to hide their illegal wealths. Internationally most evil role, joining hands with axis of zionists and destroyers every, illegal PM is really a joke on international level by singing rhymes in praises of Trump, He do same for retired and self proclaimed Field marshal. Nominated noble peace prize to Trump who was saying to get rid of Palestinians and make Gaza a beach front property. Who kidnaps a president to steal another country's oil. How on earth that sorta man deserves peace prize!?. This illegal regime is a total humiliation. That is why greedy and power hungry Generals were always the worst enemy & traitors of this nation. Every day our jawans are losing lives because of the worst policies & extreme incompetence of these Generals. ISPR is reduced to a mafia and a political thug, just check at his disgusting language.

This failed and illegal regime had nothing to show as their success, The only success (air battle) was due to last govt. In 4 day skirmish with india our only success (air battle) was possible due to last legitimate govt's procurement of J-10Cs/ pl-15s. These cowards couldn't even do retaliatory strikes at major indian cities which india was doing openly by firing brahmos. This illegal and pathetic govt in 4 long years has not even procured a single big ticket weapon system. Complete failure in every dimension.

@Pakistan Space Agency Tag your noonie friends to this post who support this corrupt regime.

Keep in mind - this is definitely one of the WORST deals of all time for India.

A full pivot from Russia to the US and completely wrapped in US economic bows.

India gave up a lot of things to please the U.S, you need to read it carefully in both agreements.

I guess that will be the last of Trump mentioning 8 jets worth 150 million dollars being shotdown.

On serious note, India now have secured both EU and American markets for its export, at much better rate then Pakistan. Indian exporters would easily screw over Pakistani products. To f@ujeets and patwaris.... still meri jind meri jan? World is moving at some pace, India secured both EU and US. UK is already in the bag for them. That is the fundamental problem with Pakistan. The "real" decision makers are GHQ and they only understand the world in the context of "giving" orders for things to happen, and then assume they can grow and manage an economy and society on that basis alone. That is why Pakistan has this "nonsense" of "targets" for tax revenue collection rather than policy formation to increase documentation of the economy and effective taxation policies.

GHQ fail to understand that the world of investors where the "money is", do not like engaging with Generals, they do not like engaging with puppet crooks on the "uncle" network who collaborate with GHQ to sit in the "chair", who are not empowered to make any decisions as they will have to relay questions back to GHQ. The global world of investors want to know the person sitting across the table is an intellectual who can offer them the framework to engage with at an civilian institutional level, and not generals. If people understood this, then the whole nonsense of SIFC would never have been attempted.

All this nonsense of "MOU's" for JF17 sales is all GHQ have got left. There is not much else in Pakistan to "market" overseas, and not much to invest in Pakistan either. India has secured new trade deals with the EU, UK, and now the USA that will move the overall economy forward for India and Pakistan has not.

What has GHQ achieved in terms of actual new trade deals ? They are the decision makers, and should be held to account for this failure of not being able to grow Pakistan's economy, for the weakening of the judicial system in Pakistan that has now scared away ALL investors from Pakistan.

Indian economic and civil service professionals can literally dance across the world as civilians representatives who are empowered to make decisions that can benefit their country, they are allowed into places that Generals are not and for that reason, they are successful. They can engage with industrialists, economic experts, politician's, economic think tanks, political systems on a global scale as the people who are interacting with them know that these professionals are part of an ecosystem that actually works and functions and therefore they can engage with them. They can embed themselves in all the places that won't allow in generals, and that works in India's favour a lot. This cannot be said of Pakistan, where all roads lead to polished military boots.

(rant over ...).

Indeed. According to Trump, Modi has surrendered on the deal. India or Modi isn't saying much about the deal though.

Worst deal of all time… because you feel so? Or did this come to you in a vision last night?

And by 'completely wrapped in US economic bows', do you mean more jobs moving to Bangalore, more investments, and more export opportunities?
Boo hoo. Poor us. How will we ever cope with all that growth, capital, and employment coming our way…

Trump being Trump, might spring a nasty surprise on India or any other nation in the very next moment.

Bottom line - Don’t get either too excited or go into a gloom. Hold your horses before giving a verdict. Kyunki picture Abhi bhi baaki hai mere dost.

Let me elaborate on this a little.

Modi and Trump have announced the deal yesterday. But Trump is Trump and a Trump.

He might wake up tomorrow and not like Modi’s stance on some issue somewhere and announce 500% tariff. Hasn’t he done the same with his allies from the West. Canada is one big example of Trump’s morning sickness induced rebukes.

Thats why this deal isn’t start or end of any love affair. It is just a pit stop, where new tyres have been installed and petrol topped up.

Hence, it is not a moment of celebration but a moment of relief, that too could be a short one.

Yeah, Trump can wait until India forks out 500 billion for him 😅.
He should get in the line of so many other countries still awaiting india to buy things from them.
Putin still waiting payments from india for PAK-FA
India's total imports of goods and services were over $915 billion for financial year 2024-2025.

Total imports from China were over $120 billion. So, China could be replaced by the US over the coming years? 🤔

No doubt Trump is an unreliable leader of the highest level.
Will say and threaten to the max and then when for example he puts 100% tariffs and then when the recipient is having cardiac - he then lowers it to a manageable level - the recipient then thinks thank fukc its not 100% and accepts the outcome.
Extortionist way to do business and certainly creating a history that those of the receiving end wont forget............

India isn't halting oil purchases, and the tariffs weren't imposed over Russian oil but because Modi didn't nominate him for Nobel Prize or lick his boots. Russian oil is something which we pay for in Rupee-Roubles which Russia can't use to prop up it's economy the way trumpstein has been claiming for long. Russia is investing surplus rupees back in Indian treasuries. That's the best it can do with it.

Trump was just pissed off with the "Mother of all deals" branding for India-EU FTA and that bait worked :)

Russia says India has not said it will halt oil purchases following US trade deal announcement

AFP
February 3, 2026

The Kremlin said on Tuesday it had not received any indication from India that it would stop buying Russian oil following the announcement of a trade deal with US President Donald Trump.

Trump said he had struck a deal to reduce tariffs on India and that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had promised to stop buying Russian oil over the war in Ukraine.

India’s purchases of Russian oil — discounted due to Western sanctions complicating logistics and cutting off markets — have surged since Russia launched its full-scale military offensive on Ukraine in February 2022.

Ukraine and its Western allies have been seeking to cut off the billions of dollars in revenue, a vital source of income for Russia’s stretched economy and its military.

“So far, we haven’t heard any statements from New Delhi on this matter,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters, including AFP.

Trump said he was cutting levies on Indian goods to 18 per cent. He had previously imposed 25pc “reciprocal” tariffs on many products, plus an additional 25pc for New Delhi’s purchases of Moscow’s oil.

While Modi thanked Trump for the “wonderful” phone call and the easing of tariffs, he made no reference to Trump’s assertion about halting oil purchases.

In 2024, Russia supplied nearly 36pc of India’s total crude imports, around 1.8 million barrels of discounted oil per day.

But after Trump hit New Delhi with tariffs, India’s monthly oil imports from Russia plunged by 38pc, local media reported, citing India’s Ministry of Commerce and Industry’s data.

Russian President Vladimir Putin promised “uninterrupted shipments” of oil during a visit to New Delhi in late 2025.

Bilateral trade between the two sides reached $68.7bn in 2024-25 — almost six times higher than the pre-pandemic levels — dominated by Moscow’s energy sales, with Indian exports to Russia accounting for under $5bn.

‘American colony’: Indian opposition slams Modi’s BJP government for US-India trade deal

News Desk
February 3, 2026

The Indian National Congress on Tuesday criticised the Narendra Modi-led BJP government for the trade deal struck with the United States on Monday, calling on the government to take the country into confidence about the deal’s details.

United States President Donald Trump announced a “trade deal” with India on Monday after speaking to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying New Delhi agreed to stop buying Russian oil and may purchase it instead from Venezuela.

“Just like the ceasefire, the announcement of the trade deal was also made by US President Trump. It has been stated that the trade deal is being done ‘on Modi’s request’,” the Congress said in a post on social media platform X on Tuesday.

It slammed the move to reduce tariff and non-tariff barriers against the US to zero, saying, “It seems India has agreed to completely open our market for America. This will impact Indian industry, traders and farmers.”

It also questioned whether the security and interests of Indian farmers had been ensured amid talk of opening the agriculture sector to the US, and whether the Modi government had agreed to the condition stated by Trump that it would no longer buy Russian oil.
