Its low cost is exactly the reason it fits into the new networked, multi domain operations, now a standard in the world. It is economic to have many thunders as shooters as part of a network rather than individual Rafales flying blind....

Not sure if most of the countries that are interested in jf 17 have the necessary infrastructure for multiple domain operations.

So I guess the Saudi's are financing this deal for Somalia?

Must be, because I can't see them paying the cost themselves when they have so much other issues to resolve

The day of the Mig 21 has gone, but it also won't be replaced

In the age of the Mig 21 countries had very little choice outside of that type of aircraft

In today's world of drones, the solution is going to be a limited amount of air craft supported by drones

So a limited amount of JF17s to do the heavy lifting and provide sea, land strike options and drones to do things more economically

Rightly said, and in today's world of global recession and countries having struggling economy, buying a fighter with AESA and PL-15, costing less than an F-16 is a suitable option. Who knew our own economic restraints led us to develop JF-17, which will cater to the requirements of the countries of the global south.

Their is no great alternative to the JF17 for the price

Others are either trainers with basic abilities or they have the usual strings attached or it's just not economical

What Pakistan should really be doing (I'm sure it is) is pushing a PACKAGE

Of drones, missiles, rek kits, anti -ship missiles etc

So we can sell a whole package and ultimately help the state crate a eco system to support their defence

If we aren't doing the above and letting others take the pie then were foolish

It will ultimately support our our defence industry and needs

100% agree. JF-17 is genuinely "light" as opposed to other fighters on the market touted as light but are effectively medium (Gripen, F-16V, J-10, MIG-35).

Packing an AESA and PL15 into such an airframe, proving it in combat (3 times now) and selling it for $30 million.

This will sell like hot cakes, the only thing hold us back is literally our lack of production capacity.....
