HAL LCA Tejas: Updates, News & Discussions

Anyone with half a brain (and I appreciate this excludes some posters on here) knows this project is dead. IAF are refusing to accept new build Tejas from HAL and will "review" (see terminate) this project officially in May.

Said this 18 months ago.

Everything else is aspirational wishful thinking being reposted from social media.

it should be to create a defense industrial culture where risk-taking, long-term funding, and trust between stakeholders are the norm rather than the exception
That probably has been the biggest issue faced here. GTRE was expected to make a jet engine out of peanuts of a budget. No one had a big enough vision to put the right kind of resources to make it happen.

Private sector has the motivation of profits and might be able to do a little better job. I know of few very small companies that are doing stellar work in few niche fields and can compete with some of the best out there. With right shepherding and leadership they can come up with great stuff.

As you said LCA would remain the redeemer in creating many companies and an ecosystem that might come in handy as we move towards MK II and AMCA.

Many underlying issues still remain and are major factors that can drag down the future projects too.

You should immediately stop consuming whatever the hell you were consuming!
It's not good for your brain! 🤡🤡🤡
I am clearly not the one consuming anything when fact itself prove it.
HAL has delivered two times more aircraft than its prjmary rival PAC in the past decade and HALs revenue is 4 times of PAC.

Things really do not add up here. HAL saying MK1A ready for operation and delivery, IAF refusing to accept, and short range missile integration only now being completed.

So HAL have been lying all along? They literally just outed themselves....

You ask yourself, it took them THIS LONG to get to this point

What's happened is that Tejas was never really ready, HAL was lying to cover up the failures, the problems, the inability to complete by schedule etc

IAF was ready to abandon the Tejas 5-10 years ago, which was probably the most sensible path

Take what you have learnt from Tejas (which I'm sure is considerable) then apply it and more resources to your next platform whatever it is

But the the Politicians stepped in, Tejas was the indigenous (😅) pride of India, so they stopped it being scrapped and threw more resources and time at the project when the IAF was desperate to move forward

Even the fanboys were like IAF loves foreign maal, foreign maal

And now we are creeping towards 2030 and these guys are still fiddling about with the Platform trying to make it work, hoping that under stress and multiple flying hours it doesn't crash

I really think this may win the prize as worst modern jet fighter ever made

So, final result.

JF-17 Thunder succeeded and became the Pride of Pakistan, while, LCA Flying Rickshaw failed and became the Shame of India.

It's time for India to bury their shame and move on.

i mean your ex CAS did say mig21 bison was better than tejas in 2019 soo...
Yes. A statement made six years ago about the MK I is definitely applicable to all iterations of Tejas. Even Tejas MK II is likely to be a dud since it has Tejas name in it.
I really thank my stars for learning so much from such learned posters. Thanks folks.
