It appears the SAMs only have a token part in these exercises. First shot, First kill is way beyond the SAM envelope and by the time SAMs are involved it is already too little too late. SAMs appear redundant.....

I think you are right. He must have had a briefing and the following press release or press interaction should be accurate. But after months a person might get foggy about exact numbers.

You do know that if India only had 5 to 10 targets on day 1 there was no need to fly 70 fighter jets. Just 5 to 10 Rafales with 2 each Scalps would have been more then enough.
India anticipated Pakistan's response but could not even lock onto a single PAF jet.

questions:

1. what stopped him mentioning Pak. jets since day 01, if indeed there were any.
Given, that, he has mentioned jets more than 30 times now, I dont think, he will mention pak. jets now. And, if indeed, there are Pak. jets, which were shot down, that will make Pak. claims questionable as well!


2. Why would he not mention Pak. jets, I dont find any reasons from USA perspective to not mention, Pak. jets being shot down. Trump is a very outspoken person, after all, such jets are Chinese jets!


3. why did they escalate to SSM then?

I have noticed less conversations about Taimur missiles and how it could be used in next conflict:

- it is a clear scalp competitor and superior(we can produce it internally and it far exceeds range of scalp foreign version)

- Deep strikes on india

- Precision guided missile

It fits the bill for what we were lacking in conflict basically and now its also tried and tested a month ago

Will have big implications for next conflict me thinks
