Security forces killed 24 terrorists in two separate engagements in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, said a statement by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) released on Friday.

“On 4-5 February 2026, twenty four khwarij belonging to Indian Proxy Fitna Al Khwarij were killed in two separate engagements in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province,” said the statement from the military’s media wing.

Fitna-al-Khawarij is a term the state uses for terrorists belonging to the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

Two intelligence-based operations were conducted in the province’s Orakzai and Khyber districts.

During the operation conducted in Orakzai district, troops engaged the terrorists and killed 14. While in Khyber, during the conduct of another IBO, security forces killed 10 terrorists.

“On reported presence of khwarij, an intelligence-based operation was conducted by the Security Forces in Orakzai District.

During the conduct of operation, own troops effectively engaged the khwarij location and after an intense fire exchange, fourteen khwarij were sent to hell,” said the ISPR, adding that “ten more khwarij were effectively neutralised” in Khyber.

The military’s media wing added that the counter-terrorism operation “under [the] vision [of] “Azm e Istehkam” (as approved by Federal Apex Committee on National Action Plan) by Security Forces and Law Enforcement Agencies of Pakistan will continue at full pace to wipe out the menace of foreign sponsored and supported terrorism from the country”.

Earlier in January, 11 terrorists were killed in two separate IBOs in KP.

Pakistan has seen a surge in terrorism since the TTP ended its ceasefire deal with the government in November 2022, vowing to increase attacks.

Despite record militant deaths, Pakistan saw a sharp escalation in militant violence in 2025, with terrorist attacks rising by 34 per cent and terrorism-related fatalities increasing by 21 per cent year on year, according to a report released by the Islamabad-based Pak Institute for Peace Studies.

Ongoing Violation of the Sanctity of Worship Places by Kharijites in Tirah — Shidalah Madrasa Turned into a Base and Mosque into a Stronghold by Kharijites

According to reports, the Shidalah Madrasa located in the Tirah Maidan area is being used by Kharijites as a stronghold.

The Kharijites have remained inside the mosque and madrasa with weapons and have used it as their hideout for an extended period.

In Islamic teachings, mosques are regarded as symbols of peace, worship, and spiritual tranquility. The Hadiths of the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) clearly state that bringing weapons into a mosque is strictly prohibited to preserve the sanctity of places of worship and ensure a safe environment for worshippers.

The Kharijites' act of bringing weapons into the mosque and turning it into a shelter is a clear violation of these Islamic teachings.

When terrorist elements take refuge in places of worship, they turn them into combat strongholds, resulting not only in the desecration of the mosque's sanctity but also placing the lives of the local population in severe danger.

It is not religion, that is a ruse.

It is ideological. They are Afghan ideologues and believe in greater Afghanistan.

A United Nations Security Council report has warned that the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) enjoys preferential treatment among terrorist groups operating from Afghanistan under the Taliban regime, heightening concerns among member states that the outfit could pose an extra-regional threat.

The warning was contained in the 37th report of the UN Security Council’s Analytical Support and Sanctions Monitoring Team, covering the period between July and December 2025.

The report stated: “In Afghanistan, the de facto authorities continued to provide a permissive environment for a range of terrorist groups, notably Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan.”

PESHAWAR: A major terrorist attack on a police post in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Bannu district was foiled on Wednesday, with security forces killing three attackers and injuring nine others.

Terrorists launched a late-night assault on the Khonia Khel Police Post in the district’s Wazir sub-division with heavy weapons, intending to seize control of the facility.

A large number of attackers attempted to surround the police post, however, police personnel deployed at the installation were alert and responded to the threat promptly.

The effective response by the law enforcers forced the militants to retreat.

On the directives of RPO Bannu Sajjad Khan and DPO Bannu Yasir Afridi, additional police contingents, along with Quick Response Force (QRF) and Rapid Response Force (RRF) units, were immediately dispatched to the scene, compelling the militants to flee.

According to a press release issued by the police, three terrorists were killed and nine others were injured during the operation, dealing a significant blow to their network.

One of the slain militants was identified as terrorist commander Umar Azam alias Khizmeti, while another was identified as Shahidullah. The identification process of the third militant is underway.

During the exchange of fire, one police officer sustained minor injuries but is reported to be out of danger.

Police further stated that, in an apparent attempt to avenge the killing of their associates, militants also tried to attack Ahmadzai Police Station and Fateh Khel Police Post last night. However, both attempts were thwarted, and the attackers fled the scene.

RPO Bannu Sajjad Khan praised the bravery and professionalism of the police personnel and announced commendation certificates and cash rewards for the officers involved.

He reiterated that operations against anti-state elements will continue without discrimination.

Bannu district has been the scene of repeated security incidents in recent months, with both civilians and local security forces coming under attack amid a broader surge in militant violence.

Violence in Bannu has included attacks on police and jirga members, prompting targeted operations by police and security forces in various localities to disrupt militant networks.
