TF-X / KAAN / Hürjet Turkish Fighter & Trainer Aircrafts News & Discussions

After Spain, I am sure that Poland and Ukraine will also purchase KAAN, but there are still at least 10 years to go.

On the other hand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Pakistan, and even Bangladesh will also become KAAN users.

In the Middle East, Saudi Arabia and Egypt are our potential customers.

In the long term (perhaps 20 years from now), Nigeria, Morocco, and Algeria may also be interested in KAAN.

The Kaan is a good fallback option for Spain for when FCAS dies. Spain has ITP Aero - so maybe they can chip in on the engine side if appropriate at this stage(maybe too late).

This new situation means greater internal weapons carrying capacity.

It will also increase the possibility of having a rear-facing Radar.
In addition to target detection, the rear-facing radar will also provide jamming capabilities against enemy Radars.

Comparison of the KAAN P1 prototype with the P0

➡️There has been some change in the fuselage back geometry. You can see the changes in the slope lines. (Image-1)

➡️At P1, the air intake has been moved back towards the cockpit level. We have seen this before in the visuals (Image-1)

➡️With the air intakes moved back, P1 now has wider fuselage sides under the cockpit. This area could be used for a “side radars” (Image-1)

➡️If the aircrafts position is not misleading, in P1 the cockpit extends toward the nose at a narrower angle (Image-1)

➡️The position of the intake air door(?) indicated by the arrow in P0 has been changed and moved next to the air intake (Image-1)

➡️The distance between the two engines at P1 has increased. This could mean more sensors and a wider IWB under the fuselage. (Image-2)

➡️Compared to P0, there appears to be a sensor at the top of the vertical stabilizers (Image-2)

➡️P1's landing gear is integrated into the sides of the main fuselage. Compared to P0, the distance between the rear landing gears has increased significantly (Image-3)

Bangladesh has a bigger economy than Pakistan's at $519.29 billion versus Pakistan at $410.5 billion. They can afford more, esp. given they spend soo little on Defence as of now.

It is more likely that Bangladesh can afford the KAAN than Pakistan(!).

Yes, but you forget... Pakistan is Pakistan for a reason. Pakistanis are willing to eat grass to sustain a credible deterrence, not every nation is built like that. Its something to admire from the outside, the Pakistan Air Force will spend money if needed I think.

Rather than "eating grass", I am sure the people of Pakistan would rather prefer that their overlords pay taxes on farming/agriculture, on property development, land sales, housing developmnet which are all untaxed sectors of the economy.

(yes, topic diversion but the point needs to be made!)

Those who compromise sovereignty for bread usually end up with neither down the road.

If you're not willing to eat grass, you'll be dead to produce grass to be their cattle fodder....

Don’t want to hijack the thread & digress from the great discussion, but let me say that there’s no reality in which Bangladesh has a higher GDP than Pakistan. Pakistan, for reasons known only to it, under-documents its economy. The Pakistani economy is much bigger than the official numbers will tell you. Anyone that’s visited South Asia will tell you this.

Not with American engines.
