Indian Air Force News and Discussions ll

If all goes has plans the Airforce envisages

200 Tejas mark 1/1a/1b
150 Rafales block 3/4/5
270 Mki and super Mki

Those Tejas are needed to get 30sqds at lower. Cost

A four pack of Tejas hunting together would have 16 Astra one 160km bvrs =all with Aesa radars
All working together
Two sorties a day
Abe pehle ura to le teju ko dhang se phir yeh tactics bhi apna layin 😂😂

So tejus MKII is effectively dead. The other tejus numbers seem overly optimistic as well without a viable engine solution, should have gone with the M88 option instead of GE414 given the supposed tie up with Safran and Rafale deal, but then hindsight is a wonderful thing I guess. Assuming those tejus/Rafale numbers are realised, that's a lot of similar specced engines from two different sources to maintain, so I wouldn't assume higher serviceability for tejus. SU30MKIs seem to be bomb trucks for SOWs it seems, unlikely to be put into frontline A2A roles given their losses and poor performance.
Agree M88 should have been the choice since Rafale have been on the cards to be bought by IAF since 2014ish. Although M88 has a lower afterburning thrust than F404 by around 10kN.

Hardcore aero engineering - encompassing multitude of the most critical fields of engineering like mechatronics (mechanics + electronics with all underlying subfields), aeronautics, fluid dynamics, materials science etc. - is no jokes! It's no monolithic field like programming for "social media". If your best brains aren't at it you're as good as dead.....

For 200 jet, france would be happy to develop and sale improved version of engine but yes than india have to pay more than F404. I think russians can provide better options.

I fear he's indicating joning FCAS.

I think Su-57 heavy for the time being, and subsequently AMCA which is to enter prototyping phase this year if the contract is signed as promised "in next few months".

Numbers for the Felon would only increase, to ultimately replace Su-30 MKI.

IAF is refusing to accept half cooked curry. BTW one more Tejas crashed in January and IAF hid the news.
Not hiding but entire fleet grounded due to third crash within span of 12 months.

So samosa will take another 30 years to be a part of active fleet.

The problems that France has with Germany, will be 10x worse with India. This is just theatrical posturing to try and force Germany to become a junior "cash" partner.
