This is where my post comes back in. This isn’t “Tejas is a bad jet or bad design”. There are systemic failures from HAL suppliers to manufacturers to maintenance that need to be fixed otherwise AMCA is also going be the same discussion in 2045.Yes, brake failure. Would be a miracle if the airframe is salvageable but looks like a write-off as it overshot the runway.

Until you accept where the problems are, you cannot overcome them regardless of “clearances” and throwing money at it.

After Dubai airshow I read many journals about it during this search due to morbid curiosity i found one article in which former French test pilots mentioned that France helped India in designing first Tejas and as per him they designed Tejas as per US provided F104 engine but India (HAL) continuously putting more and more stuff in Tejas without wind tunnel tests plus refueling probe and landing gear adds enough drag and weight it would not fly until extensive testing and result is in front of us.

It is sad to loose a fighter to a technical fault or otherwise. I guess this is the third one for Tejas. Dubai crash report isn’t out yet, but could be a pilot error. Other two were definitely due to malfunction of a major system/subsystem.
The vendors supplying these parts seem to have fallen short on quality. The intense scrutiny around Tejas is likely to trigger tough measures and accountability. Hopefully, this would make things better.
Tejas was an extremely successful development programme from safety point of view. There was no major incident or accident during the entire development cycle.
Tejas MK I A is a very capable platform and it isn’t going to be shelved either. The delays have made it a butt of all the jokes and obvious glee of our friends from the western side though.
It is going to be inducted in decent numbers and the weapons suit it has, would make it a worthy platform.
At this moment, Tejas seems to be having a bad time. India knows that Tejas can’t be abandoned and whatever the issues, they have to be addressed. And that would be done.
Like many other threads this thread would age well. I would advise a little caution to few kids about this thread as was the case with the threads on US tariffs and Afghan-Pak situation. Too much celebrations by some didn’t turn out that great. I advise Similar caution here, lest these posters are forced to vanish from this thread too. May take a little while, but it is a certainty.

Yes, likely brake failure causing it to overshoot the runway and get damaged.
