The Islamic Republic created a bi-partisan system where reformists were supposed to provide an alternative to the current policies. Yet, the reformists turned out to follow exactly similar policies, only leaning towards Europe.

The reformists lean towards Europe and the US, the conservatives lean towards Russia and China. Both of them have exactly the same core policies that the people do not want.

Now after 4 decades, people are completely fed up with the situation and the new generation is even more anti-regime than ever.
