France confirms India’s interest in Rafale F5, potential first export customer

India was and is free to make a deal around Su57. It is now flying (not the case in 2015 when the first Rafale were ordered), has pretty good air performance, long legs, has at least some VLO characteristics and, from my point of view, may be a real asset in air superiority for India.

Right as I know and tend to predict correctly early let me confirm what is happening

The Russians have been desperate I mean itching for India to buy the su57 for several years now

They have been to Nashik India and confirmed they can retool upgrade the facility to manufacture felons in India

But the response from India is this

We are inducting Rafale first to replace the aging jaguar and Mirage 2000 first both entering retirement in four years time

Then the priority shift is upgrade of some of the su30mki fleet to super Mki I I hear 84 to begin with them second batch later between 2030-2035

The Indians do not want to sign any Russian deals both su57 or s500 until Ukraine war is over ...fear of caatsa sanctions and they want to see more improvements on su57 Especially Engines which will reduce rcs significantly with new nozzles

The su57 can be beast and great stop gap until Amca comes but only when the factors above are resolved

For now
Tejas will continue mark 1 only
Despite Yasser best efforts to get it cancelled

But I hear mark 2 will be curtailed or closed as India goes full throttle with private players on both Rafale license build and Amca development

HAL will keep Tejas production and Mki super upgrades

There is nothing in my above post that is not known in open source media

However one thing that has changed is the Trade deal with European union ..This deal is all encompassing and definitely includes greater military technology sharing buying etc

It's not just Rafales or German Submarines or French engines

Sixth generation murmuring at various air force seminars are all staing the same ...AP Singh air chief and rajnathbsingh defense minster have both stated that India must fast track sixth generation technology quicker

This means to me both Fcas and Gcap are being discussed behind closed doors with Dassult and Airbus
Both parties want the Indian market it's huge money and great rubber stamp for success

Su57 is almost guaranteed not to come to India

It's indeed a beast of a plane but it's 5th gen credentials are questionable and at its size with modern BVRs, it's questionable buy

I thought Tejas 2 was almost complete, but now your saying it's being cancelled? Is that right

Again, any way you look at it, Rafael was the only choice and India was rinsed for the pleasure

IAF getting SU-57 and Rafale and spending all its money on them is not bad from PAF point of view

We know Rafale and are confident against it F4/F5 or even F9 version, whatever

SU-57 os basically a SU-30 pretending to be stealth.

How both will communicate and work effectively together is anyone's guess

This has all the markings of another mess in the making and again shows no real planning or structure. IAF and BJP in full panic mode.

5 years from now

SU-57s, Rafales, NETA AWACs, S-400s, Israeli SAMs.

In terms of future warfare this is a disaster waiting to happen

The Tejas mark 2 rumours have surfaced since the defense committee gave the go ahead for the 36 billion dollar deal ...
Rafale is medium wright fighter
It's going to eat huge chunk of Indian capex next ten years.

Tejas two is two close in role and technical paremters to be needed
The rumours suggest it will be cancelled after five prototypes avd the learns technology incorporated into Amca one
This makes a lot of sense india Will.test weapons Gan AESA radars side stick flight control one hud display better Ew suites etc on mark two but move all into Amca one

Because Rafales will be built in India ordering more F5 variants in future makes sense not building another new Tejas makes sense

Mark one despite my good friend Yasser claims is not going away it's coming as budget friendly high sortie rate fighters...

Watch out for Airbus and Dassult both looking for next generation ffighters exports to India particularly if Rafale hits the sweet spot for performance

Russians having difficult time winning contracts the Ukraine war is an issue which I have heard from many sources
Until this is over no Su57= in India

USA has no chance in India to sell F35 it's too risky

Of course it is
The Indian govt whose economy has grown at 7% for decades has decided to waste 100 billion dollars on military hardware that can't be linked or used in war

Yet you a retired arm.general is more aware of this ...then these people who know the details inside out you know 0.000001% of the technical details my friend...
They are alot smarter than you and me

The Tejas mark 2 question mark is rising
Hal is notorious for missing dead lines as Yasser confirms daily and he is 100%right

We can't wait for Hal that's why Amca is going private companies like Tata and Larsen turbo etc

In May there is review by the defense ministry and the air force of Tejas programme
In simple words it means to me Let's cancel Tejas two stick mark one only ... it's not needed now we are committed to Rafale and Tejas one
After Rafale if has to be Amca
With may be just maybe Stop gap su57 in 2030 onwards if and this is a big if

Ukraine war ends
and we get much improved Su57mki mark two with new engines new nozzles new hypersonic Bvrs etc

Money has to be spent carefully.
I don't think India can afford Tejas mark 2... it may need. Stop gap fifth generation fighter unless Rafale F5 with drones is deemed sufficient forfifth generation threat like J20 and J35

Fewer combat types is better more efficiency better networking only three types of planes in future with 600 planes
With mostly Indian Awacs around 10/12 Netra is the way to go in 2030 onwards
Su30mki
Rafales
Tejas
Around 200 each

For me country like India with it's defense needs and potential market leverage we can now afford high end European fighters in the future I hope the Fcas or Gcap is in the long term.plans too

MOD EDIT: corrected spelling Chinese.

The Chinese effort to malign the Rafale fighter post Sindoor simply has not worked

India will nail it's mast to Rafale in big big way in fact 30 billion dollars worth ...

Not only 90 Rafale
But post 2030 about the time Pakistan receives small no's of J35
India will look to procure the Rafale F5
Frances officially entry full network fifth generation warfare with unmanned wingmen the Neuron
India will be the first customer ...

Now Putin is in India pushing Su57 license production with heavey transfer of technology
Russian weapons were superb during Sindoor
Brahmos
S400
Su30mki
All played big big roles
But the news is India will delay the Su57 and pour money Into Amca
And Tejas mark 2

Fewer combat types better networking it's good decision combat proven already integrated platforms makes sense
Your post, at its very start is a giant misinfo in itself, so its hard to go about the rest of the rant, as well.

There was no Chinese "effort" to Malign Rafale. India was the one that got Rafale "Maligned". Others just reported it.

CNN (citing French Intl. Experts), Reuters, The Hindu, National Interest, Aljazeera, Nikkei, BBC, DW and many other Western and Asian publications were the first ones to report the losses of Rafale. The last I checked, none of them have anything to do with China. Every country faces losses in wars. There is no need to passively aggressively overcompensate for downing of Rafales in every single post.

No. False alert. The guy was realeased without any pursuit.

Yes saw it later. But still cables’ pictures were found on his phone taken despite being in restricted zone. That’s what was caught.. what abut what isn’t caught.

ou are indian, so far best informed than me, but I don't agree to all except about F-35.

I see a future to Tejas mk2 as a M2000 replacement (same weight class, longer legs than tejas 1).
I see a small order of Su-57 (2 to 4 sqd).
About F-35 it's sure, indian will not be one of its customer.

Some here deseperatly want me to be indian. Then russian ? LOL.

The russian jets are good. It is the weapons systems that are late (no operational AESA so far) and the support that is bad.
