China-backed water technology partnership signals new phase of CPEC-linked urban sustainability in Karachi​

KARACHI, Karachi’s water and sanitation sector is set for a new phase of reform after the Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KW&SC) signed a memorandum of understanding with China’s Lingzhi Equipment Group on Wednesday.

The agreement, signed by KW&SC Chief Executive Officer Ahmed Ali Siddiqui and Lingzhi’s designated representative, was witnessed by Karachi Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab.

Under the MoU, the two sides will cooperate on sewage treatment and reclaimed water initiatives, beginning with a feasibility study for a project at Pumping Station No. 2. The study will examine technical design, financial viability, operational sustainability, and the use of Chinese water treatment technologies.

Where were you when Mr. Niazi was calling the city dwellers as the living dead while promising more migrant workers to Karachi?

50 percent of the demographics of the city is unacceptable to the rest of the country. They should be thankful to the Sindhis and their representatives otherwise we know what the xenophobes do to migrant workers in Balochistan and KPK.

Sharing my opinion: I have no issue with separate province. But no one provides proper solution. We have mindset like this since begining that, "lets get rid of one thing for now". And see where this has led to ?

Separating province is not solution. Solution is how to develop Sindh in a proper manner. the salient features of it. the technical and economical aspects as well.

Please separate province only when MQM, PPP, PTI or JI or any current party is removed from the picture.

Bring new people in. Otherwise, What if PPP still due to some reason or MQM for some reason gets elected again in Karachi as separate province ?

That's a load of baloney right there.

My first point was just in response to your stupid post. I guess you were either not born or were very young in the 90's. Had it not been for the Army, the locals in Karachi would have done what you have nightmares about every night.

And why should I dislike Sindhis? What could be the reason that I would not like an entire race? I don't like PPP, especially their role in Karachi. They eat Karachi but do not want to invest back even 25%. Karachi is the biggest and the most important city in Pakistan and yet we have to pay for water which we get through water tankers, our road infrastructure largely resembles that of Palestine, our security is entirely on Allah and those who are selected to protect our rights are the biggest dacoits of all. You think Karachiites should be thankful for these things?

Lots has been written about multiple new administrative provinces, and autonomous Local govt.
Sindh and Karachi is run by 16th century racist feudal corrupt and cunning mindset.
Provinces and local bodies will break their control.
