PTI news, updates and discussions part ll

I think Imran Khan's refusal to play the game the Establishment wants him to play, and hence spoiling of their well worn playbook, is part of his power and enhances his legitimacy in the eyes of the public. It shows he is not just another sellout politician and it is driving the Establishment nuts.

The problem here is not that the Establishment is being driven nuts by IK, since he is the one at a disadvantage no matter what the outcome: if he remains true to his determined stance, he remains in jail and that reduces his political effectiveness greatly, or he compromises to get out of jail and loses the admiration of his followers by proving he is just another politician.

It is a lose/lose for IK and a win/win for the Establishment either way. Khan Sahib has created quite a predicament for himself IMO.

Shabaz Sharif has been out of the country since 15 Feb. From Azerbaijan to Qatar, to the US, UK, etc., and going to Russia on 2nd March.

By people I mean. You should be intelligent enough to understand.

What does that mean? They should lynch him or not vote for him? Neither is acceptable to you.

As Moeed said, if they were (GHQ and islo) willing to move forward, they would have given access to IK for proper treatment and family visits. They could have used the excuse of eye and label that 'beyond politics..' or 'humanitarian grounds..' etc.

They don't care means they want to keep IK in captivity for life.

So, what explains this "silence"?

======================================

ISLAMABAD: The sisters of incarcerated former prime minister Imran Khan on Wednesday strongly criticised the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leadership for what they described as "complete silence", absence from the political and legal battlefield and failure to take any meaningful steps for their brother's release.

"Where are Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, Latif Khosa and Barrister Ali Zafar missing and why are they not pursuing cases?" Aleema Khan said while speaking to journalists outside the Islamabad High Court (IHC), along with Uzma Khan and Noureen Khanum.

... ...

She added that regardless of what party leaders may say, the family would continue to raise its voice for her brother.

For her part, Imran's sister Uzma Khan said the family often does not even know what is happening in his cases. "The party leadership is nowhere to be seen and there is complete silence," she said.

Aleema also said PTI lawyers had become members of parliament and themselves admitted that the vote belonged to the party founder.

She recalled that Imran had once said PTI was an ideological party, questioning how it could be possible that a single statement against the interior minister could divide the party. "If only a few people stood up and issued statements, it would not harm the party," she added.

Referring to remarks made by Naqvi, Aleema asked why the party had not responded to his statement in which, she said, he blamed the sisters for the situation.

Aleema said her brother had repeatedly directed party lawyers to file legal petitions, but complained that neither the party chairman nor its lawyers had even managed to get cases registered, and were not visible anywhere.

She alleged that party leaders were making decisions on their own, without informing the family, and said that despite claiming to value Imran's life, the leadership had maintained contact with Naqvi but failed to share information with the family.

They're waiting it out. Hoping he dies, they can "manage" the public "outrage" and then forge their own careers riding on his martyrdom. It doesn't suit any of their careers to have him back out.

So where is the "widespread" public support that everyone here keeps claiming? The world seems to have moved on from IK, with only his family standing by his side now, it seems.

Support without leadership is useless.

The last time people came out at D chowk you shot at them. You have no qualms about keeping people in jail for bhens chori and then having them miss the deaths of their loved ones. And then you say, log kyun nhn arahay?

Again, can't tie someone's hands up and then tell them to swim.

Yes, but all revolutions overcome such heavy handed suppression of the people's will, if they truly have grassroots support. History shows us that to be true time and again.
