XAC Y-20 - China's giant bird … Plus the smaller brother Y-15

It looks like it'll be officially in service soon.

Such a large aircraft platform, and it even has an IFR ......

Soon? It only made its maiden flight in late 2024, so it is not even in 2 years flight test ... IMO it will take some more time.

LOL.

We need to set some limits or definitions for this timeline. I guess it should officially enter service this year (its fuselage will have the PLAAF's official tactical number, not the test flight or test number).

Are there any new awacs in development for carier except kj 600?

Let's wait and see ... you know I am always on the rather conservative, sceptical side but also always happy to be surprised!

I cannot directly answer your question.

China's special operations aircraft are currently undergoing some subtle changes. The functions and roles of traditional AWACS/AEW&C are being replaced or integrated with some other special operations aircraft.

For example:
Can you distinguish between the Y-9LG and the KJ-200?
What type of aircraft do you consider the WZ-9 Divine Eagle UAV to be?

The development of a 400-ton-class heavy strategic transport aircraft is in full swing.

It was rumored in August 2022 that 603/XAC started the initial development of a large 400t class transport aircraft (Y-40?). Similar to American C-5M, it is expected to feature a nose visor for rapid loading and unloading. Y-40 is thought to be powered by four 25t class high bypass turbofan engines (WS-35?). First flight is expected by 2027.

All the chit-chat by many credible accounts suggests we can see it in 2026.

More from my understanding more like a C-5 look-alike than a An-124 or even An-225 look alike!
