Had they been in a position similar to Iran's, geography and population, they, too, would have acted in their interests.

I would correct your one statement, certain GCC nations have formed militants or supported existing ones with arms and a flood of money, as in Sudan, Syria, and elsewhere. They've hosted outsiders, with nefarious motives to destabilize the region over the last decades.

The only saving grace is that they've never been sanctioned or hit in the wallet, which has kept their ego intact.

Conclusion?

China has probably never had a better chance of attacking Taiwain succesfully than now:

1. No US carriers are available in south China sea area.

2. US Ammunition and interceptor levels are low and non existent(at worst soon).
3.US military is preoccupied with the war against Iran and its ME infrastructure is damaged and will need years to restore back to full capacity.

If China waits for some more years to attack Taiwain,and it loses that ensuing war, its China's fault

I think Iran is holding back MASSIVELY now. If they want they can sink carriers, destroy Israeli desalination plants, but held back due to fearing enemy Nukes.

But now Iran can use that as a leverage to demand the Epstein people to stop this war, or risk further escalation. At one point Iran may need to test and build nukes for deterrence if they still don't abandon the talk of regime change or the practice of assassinating leaders.

GCC chose internal development alongwith collaboration with the West to undermine everyone around them. They have been the beneficiaries of all the wars and intrigues the West has engaged in the region going back 50 plus years. That was also the main flaw in the GCC approach, the fires they kept stoking in the neighborhood eventually reached their houses.

Well, unfortunately, KSA has no well defined defence policy. Now, all GCC countries realize that all these foreign bases for ages have been to defend Israel. They are countering the Iranian missiles launched toward Israel. Same bases were used against Iran in 12 day war, but they have been avoided, and now they are counter as enemy post.
