Even so, people used to fill half litre. Never thought during the time that later will be needed to pay around 340 rupees

Here in lies the issue.
They have raised prices on old stocks already in the country.
New stocks haven't arrived yet

for petrol prices at least they have an excuse but what is the excuse for this madness? anyone earning 8,480 PKR a month is not considered below the poverty line......

Not necessarily a bad line to draw. A typical Indo-Pak family would have a household size of 5 people. That would mean a monthly income of PKR 42K/INR 14K. Once you factor in subsidised food, electricty, education, BISP/Laadli behena etc that is a reasonable limit to fix.

You are assuming that more than one person in the family is working. What if the family consists of a husband, wife, two kids, and an elderly parent?
In typical Pakistani society usually only the male works. The kids go to school and their fees must be paid. There may also be medical expenses for the parent along with bills and other necessities. All of this simply cannot be afforded with 8,000 PKR a month, no matter how you calculate it.

The second scenario is when more than one person in the family is working. Even then you would still need around four people earning to reach the 35,000 PKR per person threshold defined by the UN/World Bank.

Corrupt elite class is manipulating numbers to artificially lower the poverty rate when according to international standards around 45% of Pakistanis are actually below the poverty line.

Let me explain with an example. IIRC a driver earns about PKR 50K pm in Karachi/Lahore. Suppose he is in a family unit with his wife, two kids and an elderly parent, the family income is 50K but the per capita income is 50/5= 10K. So, the family is above poverty line.
