That is exactly what both sides are trying to do right now - build up a position of strength to negotiate from when the inevitable negotiations happen.

Which side will succeed in doing that still remains to be seen.

Well when the negotiation starts that means there is a compromise both side are looking to make. So far it is United States who is trying to look for channels. Iran will want to make this a war of attrition.

He’ll even if it retains 30 percent(just me throwing out some random number) all it needs is to cover that 2 mile area unless trump sends in hundreds of thousands of American to take over Irans coast with hundreds of thousands of Arabs troops going to be hard to stop the Irans even if they can shoot off several here and there that’s all they really need to do in the future American forces wouldn’t have an hour to wait for drones or missiles it would be seconds and think of the waves it’s not sustainable to protect their ships and civilian ships I’m no military tactician but even I can see that
