Turkish UAV/UCAV Projects

At that price point this thing makes incredible sense.

Maybe even cheaper , If BAYKAR delivers on the promised specs at their typical pricing model in mass production ... ( 1/50 compared to conventional military guided munitions with equivalent range )

900 km SUPER SIMSEK jet powered Kamikaze Drone

  • Kamikaze/Direct Attack: E/O Camera for precision hits
  • Electronic Attack/Jammer: Blinds or disrupts AD Radars
  • Decoy Mode: High RCS enhancers to mimic Fighters (F-16, F-35, KAAN), forcing AD systems to activate and waste missiles.

High ROI: A single modern Radar/AD battery costs hundreds of millions to billions (AN/TPY-2 or S-400 Systems). Using Super Şimşek (especially in swarms) to provoke, jam, decoy, or destroy them is extremely cost-effective

low-risk, low-cost way to degrade enemy defenses.

SUPER SIMSEK kamikaze Drone
Length : 4 m
Range : 900 km
Weight : 200 kg
Warhead : 50 kg
Maximum Speed: 0.85 Mach

E/O Camera
Jammer
Fully Autonomous Flight
Swarm Technologies Combined with AI
Electronic Warfare Precautions
Pre- and In-Flight Mission Planning and Update Capability

1773518926144.png
1773518936524.png

Decoy and Saturation Role:
  • Configured as a decoy with RCS (radar cross-section) enhancers (RF/IR bands) to mimic larger Aircraft (F-16 or KAAN signature)
  • This forces Air Defense Systems to engage it, wasting expensive interceptors ($2 million for a cheap platform )

We take the Tomahawk as the "equivalent guided missile system with a similar range" mentioned in Mr. Haluk Bayraktar’s statement, According to open-source data, It is indicated that the unit cost of the Tomahawk missile ranges from $2 million to $4 million.

Based on Mr. Haluk’s 1/50 ratio, the unit cost of the K2 would fall within the range of $40,000 to $80,000. If the criteria we are using, the price range, and the resulting K2 cost are accurate, This is an incredible figure for a kamikaze drone capable of carrying a 200+ kg warhead over 2,000+ km.

$40,000 to $80,000 per drone is NOT BAD!

If indeed that price range is correct, then its incredible value for money and at a price point where it can be used as a suicide drone if required.

Does look like Baykar who turned into a global brand with the global success of the TB2, specifically targeted the market gap between suicide and non-suicide drone.

This kind kamikaze drones can be used for saturation attack, it does not have to destroy the enemies airdefence systems. Just make them work from jet fighters to SAM systems, after a drone attack the real cruisemissiles and jet fighters will enter the game.

For Turkiye , K-2 is cheap which has bigger economy ( GDP Nominal ) than Iran+Pakistan+Egypt+Greece combined

also rich Arab Countries S.Arabia , Qatar , Kuwait , etc can buy the K-2 against Iran

Israeli HAROP costs $700.000 per unit
The K-2 likely in the $100.000 - $200,000 range per unit
Harop does not cost that much
