Why is it stupid? Because one of the missions of the F-35 is to provide CAS? Are you even aware what CAS means?

I'm going to wait for reports from CENTCOM to be released rather than rely on the copium of a few unknowns claiming this was the result of some vaunted Iranian AD system that hasn't been neutralized yet.

F-117 kill was not a straightforward thing. It happened because of poor planning at NATO's end, but the Serb commander who made it happen also deserves credit.

1. NATO was flying repeated routes, making the F-117 flight path, and perhaps timing also, predictable (Serb commander studied/observed this closely).

2. Once the F-117 weapons bay opened, it would become visible.

3. The F-117 had no onboard radar and was not equipped with a standard radar warning receiver (RWR). It is said that the pilot (Lt. Col. Dale Zelko) received no warning.

4. The Serbs adopted a cunning method using low-frequency radar and short activation bursts. They also fired two modified-SAMs, one of which ended up blowing up near the aircraft.
