And why would the Chinese care?

Russia is literally providing Intel and technical data to Iran, and a lot of the known sat data came from Russian sources, as well as Chinese.

We don't actually know if they have the range yet. It could have been a test run to see if they can with a modified missile, it could have been a shot in the dark, it could have been a brand new missile field test.

Who knows?

They targeted DG, and that's all we know.

That has been a long standing given considering that Iran has openly pointed out the GCC states in the past as rivals and that GCC states are essentially the security of the petrodollar.

NATO however is a relationship that also does not always need tacit government approval much like the GCC which also has these agreements.

With respect to China and Russia, my take is that there is no guarantee CN and RU would release images of a successful impact. Feel free to disagree, I won't belabor this point.

Of course we don't know for certain if there was a successful impact. We may not know for some time. Both projectiles may well have been intercepted. But if there was indeed a launch it means the Iranians are announcing they have the range. And so far they have not bluffed. The "one interception and one failure" claim is clearly psych warfare calibrated to minimize the milestone, and therefore points to the opposite.

It will be a tough target to hit accurately as I imagine CEP becomes >1KM at such a long distance 4000KM, so it is more likely to miss the island and fall in the sea unless maybe they use a cluster warhead.
