The losses have to be justified, since WWI- and WWII-style combat was a necessity, but fighting ragtag mountain militants isn't.

Another factor to consider is that the West softens its target through sanctions and then bombs the enemy state because the West has a population replacement rate below 2.1, so protection isn't just a choice but a long-term strategy.

Most important thing for Americans able to takes losses/pain is not only about losses of troops and equipment. The US is pretty much the only country when it fights the enemy, the enemy takes losses of troops and their own infrastructure, civilians, industry etc while the US only has to take troops/equipment losses. The US never had to worry about their own country, cities, infrastructure, civilians and industry to be affected. This is the single biggest advantage the US has which is why they can start war after war and their people not strongly opposing it.

Money alone is not everything. One call of america and gcc states will throw billions even trillions. America has wealth at its disposal whenever it wants it only because of their military might .

Their main weakness is SE markets and Iran is trying to exploit that. Everything else they can manipulate and compensate. This is why they asked for this one month truce beside logistical issues for munition replenishment and maintaining air machines as they can also can not sustain day to day operations for long time.

Pataramesh have said and made videos on exact these things for couple of year, people made fun of him that these cities will collapse with bunker buster etc.. he was spot on in his analysis.
