Thing I dont get is, if Kharg is the target then its typical of trumpys strategy from day 1, lots of noise, bluster but nothing concrete.

Iran uses Kharg as a platform to put oil onto tankers and ship them. If the US did take Karg, they will stop sending oil there and you have millions of barrels off the market which will make the situation worse.

Then those troops need constant supply lines, Iran can target them and Iraqi militias may get in on the action.

Yes im an arm chair general but you dont need to be a genius to see how much a further mess the US will put itself in. They forget Iran fought a bloody toe to toe war for 10 years vs Iraq. Taking Kharg wont hinder them or make them open the Strait of Hormuz. If anything the US is helping to create new more hard-line leaders in Iran.
