Yet, let's be intellectually honest here. When 9/11 happened, Bush 43 didn't seek approval from Congress to keep hostilities in Afghanistan going after 60 days nor was the Congressional approval to commence Operation Iraqi Freedom. Congress really didn't care for all of 20 years.

Why? Because they were all making money hand over fist. That's why.

It's only now they seem to have an interest. Even as they continue to make money.

ironically reports came out today that Hezbollah almost killed Katz on the first day of the war... Hezbollah tracked Katz and 2 of his aides in north Israel, and struck the building with an ATGM, his 2 aides were injured but Katz 'miraculously' survived.

That is not really sought in practice. Presidents can say it doesn't really count as hostilities. If Obama did that, Trump sure as well won't let Congress get in the way of his Israeli-ordered war.

I mean the US was involved in Syria and lots of other places, but none of them were actual wars like this, or even remotely close to this scale.

This war has been the largest US war since the Iraq war, and if a ground invasion starts, it may be comparable to the Vietnam War.

The Authorization for Use of Military Force (AUMF; Pub. L. 107–40 ) is a joint resolution of the United States Congress which became law on September 18, 2001, authorizing the use of the United States Armed Forces against those responsible for the September 11 attacks. The authorization granted the president the authority to use all "necessary and appropriate force" against those whom he determined "planned, authorized, committed or aided" the September 11 attacks, or who harbored said persons or groups.

It's not that Obama started any wars. If anything, he did surge the troops in A'stan for a period of time while randomly bombing a number of countries. There is a list, will see if I can find it.

Oh, and he did kill a few Americans via drone strikes.

What’s sad is Victoria base is basically a skeleton crew of contractors and maybe some SOF forces cosplaying as engineers or some shit.

That base has been beaten to hell. There isn’t much people there.

In a way, America got lucky that they withdrew most of their forces from Iraq the past few years. Less sitting duck targets.
