Sea Sultan Long-Range MPA | Updates & Discussion

IMO if we are able to get a decent airborne radar out of the PFX I would call the project a success, it also isn't all that unrealistic unlike building a fifth gen.
I have always belived and will belive that PFX is not more then just a gimmick , Our first priority should be to get a decent radar for the jf blck 4 (if it comes) and have it liquid cooled , We are not capable of building a airborne radar let alone decent.

As you say, not really 5th Gen, I would say only scraps 4.5th gen in capability. The build quality from pics I have seen is awful.
The photos of "terrible build quality" Are from the T-50 protoypes which showup on airshows, the actual production ones have good build quality.

problem is it cut them out of the equation.

They already had an offering.

But, they can go and **** themselves really. They're far too interested in the Indian market so thus neglected this one.

The only issue is if they blacklist the airframes, parts and spares will need to be smuggled, causing problems. I think PN/Emb will have to work out n agreement eventually.
You'll be surprised at how efficient Pakistan is with smuggling spares and parts........and for a civilian specc-ed aircraft, it will be easy peasy........many many contractors/middle men available who do it as a full time job, of course for a lot of money.

Smuggling/sourcing spares for OEM specific military aircraft is very tough, like F-16s/P3-C orions etc......but not for civilian aircraft.

Iran had been under euro sanctions for how long? Yet they had their 1980s Airbus flying safely.......how?

The very power plants that Trump threatened to bomb....most of them have turbines (Gas and Steam turbines) supplied by European OEMs.....yet they have been running them, right? Right under sanctions.

The world famous Stuxnet worm infected a specific set of Siemens S7-400 PLC controllers.......most of the Iranian industrial automation and controls is Siemens/European, yet they managed to keep them working for decades under sanctions.......yet when myself sitting in Pakistan order automation related spares from a European OEM, i have to sign and certify with my employer stamp that we will not re-export the spare part/equipment to countries such as Iran, Libya, North Korea etc...

I wouldn’t be too confident @JamD can touch on the smuggling aspect.

You say this, but the embraers are operated by a handful of guys, while it’s the same as the erj190, there’s not tons of them out there like the Iran air stuff. A lot of the parts Iran air would have access too will have come off of old airframes, which are easier to get your hands on, vs new. The parts won’t be much easier to get, heck, even when the oem supports you a lot of parts are stupidly back ordered etc.

It’s in Pakistans best interests to get back on good terms with embraer tbh, it’s for the best interest of the security of the project.

Sea Sultan fleet expansion

There is nothing in that article to suggest that the original plan of a 1:1 replacement of the P-3C's with the Sea Sultan is changing. Project seems on track, and unchanged in scope from the original plans.

(Good article and good news on the progress though).

how many Sea Sultan's PN will eventually get?

appx ~12-15, 10 for sure for LRMPA 3-4 might be for future Naval AEWCS and one for training, it might just be 8 for LRMPA, 3 for AEWCS and 1 for training
All of the airframes will be MPA and they will all have a secondary aew role. None will be specially earmarked for training.

at best Sea Sultan when inducted in numbers, will be medium tech LRMPA
Why make baseless claims?

What makes it 'medium tech'?
