The best I can tell, and am willing to be proven wrong, is with the elimination of much of the leadership, the IRGC is actually in charge. Any "President" as well as the junior Ayatollah, are simply public figureheads at best.

I’ve stuck to the topic, Iran-US. I don’t dish out underhanded personal insults. No reason to be coy, people don’t like my thoughts and opinions. Thats fine, I don’t care. They can stick to the other thread, that’s their choice, but this a geopolitical defense forum and all opinions should be welcomed.

The threat Iran has issued in response to the targeting and death of another member of the Iranian senior leadership is against 18 large cap stocks “with a presence in the region” that hold up the US equities indexes, including Microsoft, Nvidia, Google, Apple, IBM and TESLA.
The nature of the threat is not defined, but most experts estimate it will be computer hacking taking those companies off line for an extended period of time rather than physical attacks on infrastructure, although this cannot be ruled out either.
The nature of the retaliatory attacks could be on chip fab plants in the US but more likely installations in Israel and the GCC countries. In June 2025, a Microsoft headquarters building in Israel was targeted and hit by Iran for its cooperation with the IDF. It is believed this time, whatever threats are being made will be made with the intent to have an immediate negative impact on the stock value as well as long term viability of manufacturing of the listed companies. Spokespersons for the IRGC have repeatedly called out President Trump for manipulating the stock markets through timing of his remarks, and the subsequent insider trading by those with intimate knowledge of American intentions and response.
This is already in addition to helium suppliers, including AirGas in the US declaring force majeure because helium from Qatar, the major supplier, is not moving through the Strait of Hormez. Chip fabrication & AI expansion cannot take place without helium.

Iran has stated the attacks will take place at 8pm Tehran time on April 1st, which would be 11:30 am NYT tomorrow, Wednesday April 1st, at the height of the trading day.

“0DTE puts (Zero Days to Expiration) are put options contracts that expire on the same trading day they are bought or sold. Used for intraday speculation or income, they have low premiums, high leverage, and rapid theta decay (value loss). They are commonly used to bet on a swift market drop or to generate income by selling premium on indices like SPX or ETFs like SPY”
