I saw it as the speech he should have given before starting the war or at least after the war started 32 days back, not that it is a substitute for proper Congressional action. He did gin up a charge sheet starting from Beirut bombing, Cole bombing, "Death to America/Israel", October 7th etc., He made an OK attempt at arguing an Iran with nuke would have led to apocalypse. I think at least a few of the listeners who were not well schooled in the history of the region may feel convinced (to support the war).

Basically he kicked the wasps nest and went away runnning.

Only a stupid can say the war is going well after daily missile raining on nearly all countries of the Middle East.

Not to mention the fresh and substantial income coming from oil revenues and fees of trespassing Hormuz Straits.

I don't think reopening the Strait of Hormuz or 'regime change' or grabbing the Iranian nuclear material are the goals. I think the minimal goal was to degrade Iranian military and civil infra so that once this war ends, Iran wouldn't be able to threaten Israel's expansionist plans and clearly that goal is not yet achieved and so the war continues.

A couple of very interesting predictions were made yesterday by people like John Bolton and Prof. Robert Pape. Bolton predicted Iran would rebuild after this war and come out 'much stronger' while Pape said Iran will form a 4th global power center after this war ends. Pretty bold predictions by two senior analysts.

I did not expect Iran to hold up so well but am not surprised that Iran is not interested in negotiations.

This is not something new. It has been happening since a long time back. I have worked on HR System Consulting in UAE at one point. Many of their system had built in parameters, that refused processing job applications or extensions of visas, if anyone had names that included Ali, Hussain, Hassan, etc, etc and were not Gulf nationals.

And this was back in 2010s, not even recently. No other country in Middle East was doing this BS .. only UAE had this kind of stuff. They were probably on track to becoming a Jew state, long way back.
