Iran just now claiming they have also downed a US Black Hawk UH-60 helicopter that was trying to search for the downed US pilot from yesterday

Allah O Akbar

I understand your point but you're referring to a defence network against the deployed aircraft, not the vessel itself. Also, unless I missed something, Iran is yet to have shot down (confirmed) a USN carrier deployed aircraft.
I'm not sure we're on the same page. I'm talking about A2/AD against the aircraft carrier itself, not the deployed aircraft.

Iran has been able to fire multiple shots at USS Lincoln whenever it got closer than 700 km to our shores, and it forced it to retreat and stay out of our firing range.

Now consider a country like China with supersonic cruise missiles traveling at Mach 3-4 in large numbers. They have the A2/AD capability to keep the USN at 2,000 km far from their shores. That renders a US aircraft carrier obsolete.

also they wont care about escalation , which i think is why iran didnt seriously target ACs and just fired warning shots

inside Iran ? shoot these fuckers down ?

repeat Operation Eagle Claw

They're on Iran/Iraq border, on the Iraqi side, though if Iran shot a jet and now a Blackhawk, they can possibly try for these too.

Sorry took me a minute to figure out your previous post. I take your point.

If the range of the aircraft can indeed be neutralised by missile threat versus the carrier AND there is no alternative safe ground airbase from which to operate, then I agree with you, that range of area denial would be a win for the defender.

aslo they wont care about escalation , which i think is why iran didnt seriously target ACs and just fired warning shots
At some point, if this war continues like this, Iran will be forced to do something about the US aircraft carriers. More aircraft carriers are moving towards the Middle East. It's a serious threat for Iran.

Yeah that pilot is gone I'm thinking its probably now under Iranian forces as taznim is reporing

Yeah, a captured pilot or two in case of F-15E will be a disaster for Trump and another Iranian bargaining chip.

Honestly at this rate, apart from using Nukes, hard to see any form of American win, even if this goes on for 6 months....

Preliminary information confirms the presence of several American aircraft and helicopters in Iranian airspace to search for and rescue American pilot.

Reports have been received of clashes between Iranian armed forces and these aircraft, with news of a helicopter being shot down.

Additionally, the Revolutionary Guard has located the general area where the pilots are located and is currently conducting ground combing operations to find them.
