if the US truly rescued this bastard, then Trump will certainly launch a very bold ground invasion. and by this evidence, Artesh and IRGC have zero preparedness or competence to counter such an invasion, and it will go extremely badly for Iran.

U.S. military 'rule' was only in Kabul. Outside of about 30-mile radius it was Taliban or lawlessness. Somewhat similar in Iraq. Outside of 'Green Zone' it was all terrorist land. Even a potato head will know that U.S. Military can't rule Iran.

Even if the terrorist has been found and saved, the bigger issue for me is lots of loss of life on Iranian side trying to capture him, so its a big loss and a small morale boosting victory for trumpy pumpy.

The one thing I would say is, its very different searching and trying to capture a copilot and invading and holding an island. The copilot was likely constant on the move an island isnt going anywhere.

But at same where is the army or IRGC ground forces ? It seems like nobody was aware. It's possible the AA guy who shot down the F15 did not actually believe he shot it down and didn't corroborate that appropriately.

I'm also doubtful any reports of firefights. There is probably limited US special forces involved.

Well currently, Iran does not have that many dimensions to their military to work with. They have to pick and choose where to exert and where not to exert much. Committing serious defense for a mere weapons officer may look like bad optics but for people looking for small victories but I am assuming people incharge there are not those folks...
