This is the 5th Iranian missile wave of the night when generally they only fire 2 or 3 the entire night before 9 am local time. A bit unusual.

It feels like an escalated response — possibly due to an assassination. I’d wait for next 24 hours to hear if IDF claims any major assassination.

I don’t think anyone within the IRGC would care if he got killed. He is just a diplomat and has ties to reformists inside iran. He was Zarif’s deputy negotiator on the Obama JCPOA deal that Zarif disastrously negotiated.

Why have we exempted Iraq from the blockade if they're still actively hosting American troops? It makes no sense. Iraq should be a target as much as Kuwait is.

Iraqi government are not assisting the Americans in the same manner as Saudis, Emiratis, Bharaini and Kuwaitis. They previously passed laws to remove American base from their country but the US didn't do it. I think if Iran keeps pounding the American base in Iraq, the Iraqi government will be very happy.

No no and no. Permanent ceasefire is the only way to go.

Unfortunately, Israel does not want a permanent ceasefire. Israel does not even want a United Iran even if there is a regime change. Israel wants balkanization and destruction of Iran... so Iran will never in the future ever stands up as a nation United as a counterweight or an alternative to Israel. Israel wants hegemony.

This is the main reason why I am not hopeful for any sort of peace deal. It's the Israelis that are pulling the strings. Trump is just a tool a clown.

All Arab Gulf countries are colonized and have no say in what they can do and they cannot push the US out, militarily (or are afraid to do so). Iran understands this very well and this is why they are only hitting US bases in those countries, noting else.

But some countries fully support the US diplomatically too (in case of UAE they are even threatening Iran militarily and maintaining diplomatic relations with israel) and in those cases, Iran is not letting their shipments go through and also taking further actions.

Iraq though is different in that they are still powerless to push the US out militarily (hence the US bases), but at the same time, they are also refusing to oppose Iran diplomatically and have not threatened Iran militarily. That is why Iran is okay with their shipments going through.

Its all a very sound strategy, in my opinion.
