Trump just moments ago:So, here we are, the negotiations have gone well, and we've agreed on most points, but the one point that really mattered—the nuclear file—has not been agreed upon.
And immediately, the U.S. Navy, the best in the world, will begin an operation to enforce a blockade on all ships attempting to enter or exit the Strait of Hormuz. And at some stage, we'll reach a situation where everyone is allowed to enter and exit, but Iran hasn't allowed that, contenting itself with saying: "There might be a mine somewhere," which no one knows the truth of.
This is global blackmail, and world leaders, especially the United States of America, will never be blackmailed.
And I have also issued my instructions to our navy to search for and intercept any ship in international waters that has paid fees to Iran. Any ship that pays this "illegal blackmail" will have no safe passage in the seas. And we will also begin destroying the mines that Iran has planted in the strait.
Any Iranian who fires on us or on peaceful ships will be completely destroyed!
Iran knows, more than anyone, how to end this situation that has already destroyed their country. Their navy is finished, their air force is no longer there, their anti-aircraft planes and radars are useless, Khomeini, and most of their "leaders," are dead, and all of that because of their nuclear ambitions.
The blockade will begin soon, and other countries will participate in this blockade. And Iran will not be allowed to profit from this illegal blackmail operation. They want the money, and more importantly, they want the nuclear weapon.
In addition, and at the appropriate time, we are in "full readiness," and our military forces will finish off what remains of Iran.
