Like I said this is first every attack by BLA hiding as fishermen. Even then they should have done better.

That checkpost shouldnt have been their at the first place , too much vegitation and bushes and no clear line of sight.
And if the coast gaurd decreases its corruption it can buy some aluminized or steel hulls for its smaller patrol boats and follow some actual SOPs .

Getting vaporized by a 25mm chain gun is hardly good propaganda material, it would actually discourage them from ever trying that shit again.

This is first ever attack by BLA hiding behind civilian fishermen on sea. Things will be different going forward.

That tells you that despite experiencing 25 years of Counter Insurgency operations, we are still not proactive enough and lessons learned have not been propagated to various units like Pakistan CG etc. They will change their tactics but only after losing countless people.

A situation like this should have resulted in the CG boat firing warning shots at the approaching fishing boat from a stand-off distance.

One thing is sure. BLA will aways attacks from position of strength. They never take risk of being at disadvantage. Even geather proper intelligence before doing any attack. Unfortunately we have countless occasions where they can attack easily and escape.

Everything is done unprofessionally in so many instances concerning Pakistan Coast Guard. The CG are operating without a worry in the world. Usually a perimeter of a certain distance would be set and communicated to the local fishermen to not approach any government boats/ships etc. The boat itself is a commercial one with no armor/MGs mounted. Clueless CG personnel are patrolling without a thought about the potential threat and have paid for it dearly with their lives.

The same situation at the CG post earlier. Not a single personnel watching the post in a ready position to take on militants. Walking around without their weapons (in contrast to US/Israeli troops, including officers, always walking with their weapons by their sides just in case).

For as long as Pakistan has been in this GWOT, a lot of Pakistani security forces remain poorly trained to handle the threat of terrorism. You see civilians (who could easily be terrorists) walking close to security posts/checkpoints with not a worry in the world. What goes on land is clearly being extended on to the seas with this casual, lackadaisical attitude around force protection. Pretty dismal!

They say "just 1500" So they can pretend it isn't a problem and that all is well.

By the way, one insight. The BLA attacks clearly show they are going after "soft targets" like the Police/Coast Guard because in every single engagement with the FC/Army, they are on the losing side, without exception, and their casualties (being a smaller force) are of a far greater consequence than the losses to the state forces.

Thus, raids on hapless Coast Guard, police or a remote FC post is all they can manage. This also means that the security forces have limited BLA's independence of action in bigger cities/centers so they now target remote outposts and locations.

Seems like there was only a few CG personnel on the boat. Seems like 3. I think CG should have more personnel in larger and armoured boats instead of unarmored fishing boats.
If these guys were intercepting an armed drug or oil smugglers boat, how would the outcome have changed? They’re still a few guys in an unarmored fishing boat with no other ships in sight. Looking at the video, anyone can easily carry out such attack and get away.
Just setting up a security perimeter isn’t enough either. How large of a security perimeter can 3 guys in an unarmored boat set? The attackers can still attack from longer ranges and get away with it.
I think the solution is more armoured vessels with more personnel on board and operating in groups.
