From my understandings, I think only North Korea is China's formal ally and China won't let US army occupy it. Pakistan and Russia are sort of informal allies for China, so if they are invaded, China will likely provide utmost military assistance. Vietnam is not critical to China's security now, China won't likely get involved if it is invaded again by other country unless the fighting is near its border with China, one reason is China got burned by Vietnam after its war with US.

Israil is advancing unfortunately. Famous town of Bint e Jebil is surrounded and they are trying to advance towards center. They failed in 2006 and sustained heavy losses. if they succeed this time, expect a huge toll of Hizbullah casulties and serious dent in their equation of resistance.

A militia cannot stop a heavily armored army like Israel from advancing. It can however make it very hard and expensive to hold the land. The Israelis are trapping themselves in Lebanon, just like in 1978, 1982, 1996.

Sure thing, we can sense, if not see, the smoke. Impression is, Islamabad is active again, pushing for a second round. To be fair, despite a 21-hour session and some breakthroughs, it was still unreasonable to assume that a major deal could be reached. The same could still be true for the second round of talks, but there just might be some minor agreement. Iranian negotiators need to convince the hardliners, and the US negotiators, possibly Vance again, need to have delegated authority on some matters. The more he talks to Washington the more problems would arise.

A bit of praise for Pakistan from talk show hosts, including Colbert and Stewart.

Also, Islamabad is often being mentioned without the country name afterwards. Example; "Islamabad", instead of "Islamabad, Pakistan" throughout major outlets and news. This is similar to how Geneva is mentioned as it is expected for people to know the country name afterward and garners the cities respect. Some good news in that cause.
