Did they penetrate into Pakistan or fire at stand-off distances within their airspace?

From my limited understanding, they were aware, CAP were active, as soon as missiles struck - which gave the narrative greenlight to retaliate - they immediately fired back.

I think we should ask where tf air defence to intercept missiles was when we knew they were going to strike?

Secondly the overall sense of instituional inertia in Pakistan where they stick with very old strategic analysis and strategies totally ignoring new developments/concepts that drastically influence warfare — case in point was they had a childish belief India wouldn't escalate conventionally with missiles. Several airbases were targeted.

It took being on the edge of war, unprepared, to realise drones & missiles like BrahMos would be a big threat. That would be a disaster in a longer war. One has to ask why?

Missiles like BrahMos canIt can fly supersonically at 2–3 Mach at an altitude of about 50 meters.Due to the curvature of the Earth, the radar was able to detect him when he was less than 50 kilometers away.This leaves the air defense system with very little time to react.Basically, only one round of missile fire can be organized.
To defend against such weapons, early warning aircraft are required to detect these BrahMos missiles in advance.and use data links to guide air defense missiles to strike.This is the requirement for American CEC joint operations.

J-10Cs can reach Tehran assuming they get refueled over Afghanistan but the F-16s would have to turn back.

What is the ferry range comparison on both?

Aren't F-16 BLK 52+ with CFTs better at range, considering they would be carrying a light load of WVR/BVR missiles only and flying subsonic all the way?

They are but they aren't doing ferry flights, if they actually encounter anything they would use up fuel in menuvers which might not leave them with a enough fuel to return to base, A J-10C can just rendezvous with a tanker if they run low A F-16 can't.

What was the context of that video? Looks like he was speaking at some ceremony, but CNS was chief guest at PAF Academy this year.

It is interesting he mentions new additions will not just benefit PAF but Pak Forces in general, leads me to think he is not just talking about new fighter jets....

yes i notice that its synergy of forces and thats a massive news for me . more than j 35. if its implemented in true spirit then its a real challange to adversaries

With our forces now stationed in Saudi in what could well become a permanent deployment with the very likley addition of Qatar soon, it means there is a massive requirement for new planes.

Mirages can maybe continue as cruise missile carriers but we need to replace most of them now. JF-17 Block 1 may also need to go.

F-16 A/B/C/D

All of the above are our only real viable assets for frontline in any confrontation with India or Israel, but combined that above fleet is only 120-130 aircraft.

Mirages, JF-17A and F-7PG now represent around 300 odd planes.

Now considering part of PAF may take an active role in Middle East for the foreseeable future something needs to be done regarding our spear tip units (J-10C, JF-17C and F-16s)

At one point if we had 20 odd J-10Cs flying escort for Iran and 20 odd JF-17Cs in Saudi at the same time there may have been a time no AESA equipped planes were in Pakistan!!!!

I exagerate but not by much. Just point out we have very high quality kit and equipment and the Israelis would have been fools to take us on, but the numbers are looking dangerously low for us outside of spear tip units
