Israeli aggression in south Lebanon persists as Hezbollah urges residents not to 'settle'
——
Israeli attacks, shelling, and demolitions continued on 18 April across southern Lebanon, including a drone strike in Kounine that killed a person on a motorcycle and a UAV strike in Markaba that reportedly caused injuries. Artillery fire targeted areas including Beit Lif, Al-Qantara, Touline, Debbine, and Khiam, while reports say an ambulance team in Kounine was hit by machine gun and artillery fire.
Israeli occupation forces also continued demolitions using bulldozers and explosives in border villages such as Bayyada, Shamaa, Khiam, and Bint Jbeil, with witnesses reporting loud explosions continuing until dawn in areas under partial Israeli occupation.
The Israeli military also announced the establishment of a “Yellow Line” in southern Lebanon, similar to that in Gaza, warning it would target anyone south of it, amid incidents such as the killing of a French UNIFIL peacekeeper in Ghandourieh.
Mahmoud Qamati, Deputy Chairman of Hezbollah’s Political Council, said “The issue of the truce and its duration is dependent on developments on the ground,” urging residents not to fully settle after returning and to remain wary of Israeli “treachery,” while stressing that the resistance remains ready to respond to any breach.
