AZM project is out of the door or will merge with PFX, paf according to some opinions is planning to start building a new medium weight plane, possibly 4.5++ generation.

Azm project is cancelled. Pakistan never had the industrial or engineering base to do it to begin with.

Forget engineering base, educational infrastructure in Pakistan cannot produce the required human resource.

Two different projects are already decided long ago. J-31 and KAAN are those two. The question is what the hell is PFX program. To me personally a fighter jet like Grippen E doesn't make sense as we have inducted J-10 C. In my opinion a fighter jet like SU-75 makes more sense. But I think it would be something similar to Grippen E. Mainly a JF-17 version with 10 to 11 hardpoints, new engine, and with AESA radar, build in IRST, latest avionics and other latest features. A true medium weight 4.5th Generation Fighter Jet.

Regardless, out of the waste some good does come and the NASTP complex I just drove by a few hours ago will provide some impact even when the sign falls off or the next opportunist renames it.

NASTP doesn't seem too bad but it's not something you can rely on as the core of your R&D, and it can do cool side projects and provide help - but I think Pakistan should start with basics and increase GDP spending on education and get decent STEM universities opened up

I am becoming cautiously optimistic of NASTP, specially after seeing the first product coming out in the category right on the cue.

The radar has been unveiled and the EW product was also pictured a couple of months ago at one NASTP facility.

It provides that over arching plan and roadmap that was always desired by forum members and a multi year portfolio management to execute it instead of ad hoc isolated programs.

Fachhochschule plan that was supposed to be 11 but then Zardari happened need to be revived.

1 has been opened and think 2 more are under execution in Sambrial and Islamabad. Let’s hope we make up for the lost time.
