JF-17 PFX program

JF-17 Block 4 = PFX = JF-17 with Pakistani radar and avionics probably lol dont get your hopes up too much- We use 'indigenous' very, very loosely lol
Will the rear fuselage be localized?

The two most possible avenues of improvement are, a newer, more powerful powerplant that can fit in perfectly, and significant use of composites to make the airplane lighter. Of course, avionics and weapons upgrade are a given. The airplane would be better suited for electronic attack and non contact warfare I believe....
Good points. The PAF needs a platform to direct KIZILELMA and ANKA-3 type stealthy "robotic" war machines. Now, some Turkish systems need to be incorporated for a smooth integration......

If that is possible it is a bonus. By all means if this is a requirement PAF should go for it.

It is strongly recommended to focus on a 5th gen platform. Preferably the Chinese options and later on KAAN.

Honestly - PFX "programme" is basically bringing the manufacture of the entire airframe to Pakistan ie the other 42%, and also the integration of local systems onto the JF17, alongside more Turkish systems for Azerbijan.
If so, might as well get the full manufacturing capability domestically and support the current fleet from Kamra all together.

Perhaps with those Turkish modification for Azerbaijan, we might see an improved, long life air frame with the use of more composites. That might be the real extent of the “PFX”.

JF17 overall was a success in terms of adding bvr and AES’s capcailities to the broader Pakistani fleet. Providing 4th gen jets quantitatively and allowing to get into a bit of manufacturing and building a nascent aviation industry etc.

But I think they’ve hit a learning roadblock for the industry. The JF-17 PFX could help improve the foundation over which one day we could do JF-17 type local manufacturing program for the 5th gen J-31

I speculate the PFX will be a little more stealthy version of Jf-17 but about the same size as J-10C and with same ws-10 engines. It won’t make sense to make another block 4 in same weight category when it was already capped with carrying payload and the engine not providing more power for powerful radars and EW equipment.
Time will tell what comes out of it. This will be NASTP’s real test rather than the other projects on which if you peel back a layer you can see the name bayker or aselsan.

logically, it would make sense @JamD @Quwa right- PAC is AMF is operating with so much excess capacity it would make sense to then slow production rate and whatnot by just, well, giving them more to produce. Reduces that cost too

PFX has IRST to fire Faaz-IR at 100+km range without being detected by enemy radars.
FAAZ IR doesnt exist and IRST is a secondary sensor, how do you gather range from a 2d image without funky image processing magic which may not be accurate

And even more it makes no sense to develop an enlarged WS-10-powered type similar to the existing J-10C.

We need to take it all with a pinch of salt.
PAC manufactures nothing to very little.
سارا پھولوں گھٹا ہے

Would it make even more sense that Ive actually peeled back a sticker with NRTC to reveal Aselsan?

Just to troll NRTC.

But this PFX deal is being hyped beyond what it is and the most logical conclusion is that its just more “indigenous” manufacturing of the JF-17 and independence from CAC which isn’t always the open supplier the “Higher than mountains, deeper than seas” rhetoric makes it out to be and for good reason.

Which is fine - it has benefits.
