Recently commissioned submarine PNS Hangor — a Type 039B Yuan-class derivative — along with frigates PNS Taimur (F262) and PNS Aslat (F254), arrived at Tanjung Priok Port in Jakarta on 19 May.

One of the slowest induction is the Submarine platform upgrade
Even the Agosta Submarines were constructed at long development time

Unsure what Transfer of Technology we learned from Agosta program that we have to relearn it again with the Hangor Class submarines

However hopefully the first 4 will arrive soon

I think the engine issue with Germany is to blame for this.

This photo was taken on May 22, 2026, as the submarine was cruising on the surface through the Java Sea while returning to Pakistan from Indonesia.

2030 is very optimistic! KSEW was just starting the first one 3 years ago.

The first one out of KSEW is near launching phase.

The radius seems too small for a submarine of 2800 tons. Do we know why is that ?

Nobody can say if its small with this image only. As there is no reference. Had there be a human visible in the photo then could have known.

All we know is that Hangors hull is bigger/ wider than Agostas. As can be seen from satellite images too.

And it's answered by others that this is likely a mistake by someone as even older submarines like agosta have range close to 6000-7000 km

Oh yes, the range. The hangors are derived from Yuan 039B/C. Their range is 8,000 nautical miles. So I assume Hangors would be close to that.

The Akya, its quite new and prod scale is probs quite limited. Also, the Chinese would porbably be somewhat reserved in 3rd country torpedo integration, but im not sure, maybe not, its one of those things that only those involved would know.

Torpedo's are pretty significant technologically yeah, its basically the same game as submarines, make them quiet, countermeasure resistant, and also hard to detect. Just think of it as a mini submarine, all the same stuff applies.


Would be nice, PN currently operates the DM2A4's which are pretty creme of the crop as torpedos go, would love nothing more for them to grab some more, but its quite unlikely.

A DM2A4 probably costs in the range of about 4-4.5m usd nowadays. PN bought 20 per ship, so lets just assume thats what they aim for, so 160 needed, plus some for swats, so lets assume a req of about 200 units.

Actually, Pakistan is a "garisson."....state.
So in a garrison, military equipment is a given.

Security State is the preferred choice
