I don’t think a deal is agreed to till after the World Cup and 4th of July. It is in Iran’s interest to force the U.S. and the West to feel the oil bite and that can only happen with time. The pain won’t begin to be felt till July. Thus favorable terms for Iran will not be reached till then. Thus it makes sense to stall the negotiations for another 4-6 weeks. I could be wrong and a breakthru happens by end of month. But I doubt it.

The one major mistake Iran made during the war was not closing the Bab Al Mandeb. The Houthi’s wasted too much of their capability in 2023/2024 and fighting a war with the U.S. if the Bab Al Mandeb was closed it would be another 5M barrel a day that wouldn’t escape from the Saudi Arabia Red Sea port or be forced to re-route thru the Suez Canal. This would speed up the oil reserve draw and accelerate the timeline for the West to feel economic pain.

Following on from yesterday's NOTAM opening tehran FIR of flights originating from Iran or terminating inside Iran, we can see intl. Flights now operating inside Iranian Airspace.


Note: Iranian airspace remains closed to over-flight operations.

This is a largely positive sign.
