@Ak01 so when i mentioned i saw MBDA personnel at a certain time and location in Pakistan, it means they were in KHI for CAMM-ER related work.............

Why did PN go with a SMART S MK2 on the Baburs? It's a mediocre last gen PESA ATP.

SMART S Mk2 is perfectly fine for a lightly armed corvette which is what Baburs are at the end of the day.

But to answer your question, SMART S Mk2s were locally produced by Aselsan and it was the default choice for Ada-class/Milgem. Now Aselsan offers the Cenk series instead which are AESA. We might see them on remaining Baburs if PN hasn't already paid for the smart s mk2s.

tbh, in the long run (for an MLU), the PN will likely tap NESCOM or NRTC to design an original radar for them. The TRMs would come from Europe, but the primary integration and solutions end will be done in Pakistan.

Broadly, it'd also be interesting to see how they approach the Jinnah-class moving forward. They've got some time, I think, and it'd be worth looking out for possible PN interest in MILDAS and SIPER.

when are next 2 expected to join PN

the delay is not In construction but rather fitting out and sea trials

firing out maybe taking longer because our development of new weapons systems are being developed and integrated all the time but having said all that its done now

the 3rd unit is in Sea Trials (Jan 2026) as is the 4th just started

3rd unit should join by end of 2026
and 4th unit in 2027 probably Q3 or Q4
