Pakistan Solar Power: News & Updates

The transition may also fundamentally reshape the nature of Pakistan’s distributed energy landscape. The first wave of solar adoption was largely about generation capacity. The next wave could revolve around optimization, storage, and intelligent energy management.

The battery curve is still small enough to escape mainstream attention. But so was solar once.

And just as solar imports once appeared too small to matter before snowballing into a structural shift, batteries now seem poised to become the next mini revolution quietly unfolding underneath Pakistan’s energy transition.

it is because the major share holders in IPPs are Pakistan Politicians ....and they are pissed and want Solar adoption slow down
it was a free money for them for almost around next 50 years. they never exoected that kind of change in their wild dreams.

the phenomenal solar power growth will be stopped in Pakistan.....simply due to IPPs monopoly...a 10kw system is being installed in 12 to 14 lacs after these anti measures it will cost above 15 lacs....

Govt is on reverse gear while the world is looking at this energy revolution happening Pakistan.

i think its over for govt people see clear benefits even from the first month when their bill reduced from 30 k to 5 k. They will sell things as it is happening here to be less dependent on wapda . Govt is too late to curb it with the help of batteries it will be less demand from grid even at night . Grid system is collapsing . More they make expensive more people will go for solar .

what will happen to ten capacity contracts GoP had with IPP and other power producers in Pakistan?

sir in Pakistan there is no future. Houses that cant afford dry batteries , are isntalling other acid batteries two or three so they can just get over the night. At day time they use solar and use ac's . When govt imported solar panels they never thought that it leads to solar revolution . i think this is the first time when energy is under the control of middle or lower middle class not in the hands of elite. This solar revolution soon guide people to transport sector specially two vehicles.

When I visited Pakistan last year, I saw that all ... I was very happy to see this happen, but this will literally bankrupt the government. With the 18th Amendment, the federal government is at the mercy of the provinces. It seems that Pakistan is not one country but 4-5 countries living in order. Heartbreaking to see the country continue to slide into chaos and disorder every year. While the elite enjoy, the common man suffers, and nothing changes. All policies are made for the elite. Somehow, this slipped through the elite's fingers intentionally, as they want to benefit from it by installing solar for their factories and homes. However, the common middle-class person somehow used the opportunity to make the most of it. Still, the lower 40% are not able to get the benefit, hence suffer further. I know some people who have totally shut off the grid and just rely on batteries and solar panels. They do suffer at times, but 98% of the time they have power, literally free after the RoI duration completes. Outside Karachi, in various villages, they were able to install solar panels that can deliver power throughout the day, and, using low-cost batteries, they can run the power at night [but limited]. Not every villager can afford this arrangement. Hence this remains sketchy in rural sindh.
