I think, even China/Saudi Arabia would support smaller provinces in Pakistan. These two allies of Pakistan also want structural reforms in Pakistan for better investments/money.

As you can see the mental state of many of my compatriots is operating on a completely different wavelength. There is not much rationality to even begin genuine and effective problem solving.

non-punjab parties would love to see Punjab being divided but will not let Sindh, Balochistan or KPK be divided into 2 or 3 units.
socioeconomic condition in South Punjab is far better than North western Sindh or even eastern districts of Sindh. Besides Karachi Sindh should be divided into upper and lower Sindh, which wont happen as both PPP and Jiye Sindh etc will join hands against it.
Balochistan became current balochistan after we bought makran coast from Oman. There needs to be a makran provinve, kohlu/Sibi, Loralai and Balochistan province but that would just fuel BLA and Other separatist and even antagonise the 18th century mindset sardars who believe themselves to be the new Anunakis or a superior race.
Lastly, south KPK is as backwards as most Sindh, south Punjab and Balochistan.
The fear is that once south Punjab is created, the next division will only happen after another 50/70 years.
Hafiz sb, bcoz of his iron grip and whip, is probably in the best position to do this and ride the storm as well. The so called democratic parties have their vested interest to maintain the status quo.

There are divisions within Pakistan, that can be empowered and in turn can empower the local bodies. There is essentially no need to break provinces into smaller units.
Secondly, the establishment is just using BS tactics to pressure PPP to stay in line. Nothing will happen. The PPP knows breaking their stronghold will mean PTI will get stronger hence the establishment will not overplay this.
All in all, keep the Karachi census limited, let PPP control and loot maar Sindh. PPP controls Sindh and Karachi with an iron fist while Establishment and PPP will have negotiated settlement on future amendments.

Already broke the news last week about possible deal between establishment and PTI and Karachi becoming Federal territory. Sindh will be politically divided between PPP and PTI.

I am in favor of splitting all "big" provinces. Unfortunately KPK is not big. It's just 13% of Pakistan's landmass that too after inclusion of FATA.
A Baluchistan split into 3 , each will still be equal to current KPK in landmass.
Sindh split into 2, each will still be equal to KPK in landmass.
Punjab split into 2, again. Same situation.
You are not splitting provinces for the sake of it, you are splitting them to make them more manageable.
So if I say split all these provinces except KPK, there is a logical reason behind it. Not my anti-punjabi sentiments.

Creating smaller provinces is better than creating administrative Units.
Specially in Sindh, in order to break the quota system, so that more population [ Proper population Census ] means more jobs to the educated urban areas of Sindh.
